I received a nice message from a buyer thanking me for the handwritten "Thank You" note that I enclose with all my sales. He said very few sellers do this. So that was nice of him to take the time to tell me that. A "heads-up" to all you sellers that we are dealing with real people out there and you never know who they will tell (there are some statistics on that) and how many of these people will come back to you to buy something.
A fewer note on this subject. I also received a hand written letter from a woman dealing with throat cancer. She purchased a lot of "silk scarves" from me and that the scarves allowed her to cover up her neck so that she could go out more in public. Apparently she had some surgery and it was noticeable. I cried when i received that one, so you never know your impact. Have a Good day!

I typed 6 thank you notes on a paper. I left space between the 6 notes. I print them out on colored paper and then I cut them into strips. I put a strip inside thanking them for their purchase. It has my Ebay name on it. I put a strip in each box. Sometimes, I will put the item # on the paper if the buyer is a newbie so that they do not get confused if they bought from different sellers. I have been doing this since 1998.

I put one of the eBay branded Thank You cards in each order. With the preprinted messages, I only add "Enjoy, Seller".

"Enjoy, Seller"? That's ridiculous!
You should put your ebay name. 😉

Hi, i also send a hand written thank you note with each item. But i am a small seller. I imagine sellers with high volume wouldn't have the time to do so.

I'm considering including a thank you note that reads something like this:
"Thank you for your purchase. If you decide to open a false INAD case, this thank you note will ignite."

I enclose a handwritten note on the packing slip.
I'll add more than a simple thanks if there's been some back and forth between us. I've never had anyone object. I've gotten a few thank yous. Doubt it led to more sales, I don't do it for more sales. To me, a thank you note is just common courtesy, not required, but something I was taught to do as a kid and have never seen any reason to stop doing it. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I do not think there is any danger that our country is going to drown in common courtesy anytime soon.
I think many people never read it. Few, if any, are annoyed by it. And maybe, for some, it's less a thank you and more of a friendly Hello....no big deal, but it takes me seconds, and there are people who could use a friendly Hello once in a while. John Prine made that point better than I ever could:

LOL... actually, I put my real name 😲, since it's already on the shipping label. Now I'm wondering if I might need to rethink my Address fields... and my autograph. 🤣

And, @silverstatetreasureboxes... you are the wind beneath my wings!! 🎶
Admittedly, I rarely send beautiful card 'surprises'. At face value, you had a NAD claim... I sent more than advertised. 😊 Quite humbled that you have it displayed so prominently... but I suppose I'm not surprised. It was made for you! 🤗

That video was nice, so true.

Nope. I only package what the buyer paid for. Anything extra is the packing material, and a waterproof polybag. Them getting the item in safe undamaged condition is their thank you note.
Not to sound rude, but I once purchased a magazine, and it came with a written thank you note. You know what else it came with? Extreme water damage. I would've preferred a waterproof polybag instead of the thank you note. All I want when I buy something, is what I ordered. If you want to thank me, give me a discount.
Another anecdote I have is years ago, I ordered a shirt. And when I got the shirt, I also received a ballpoint pen inside the shirt. So I messaged the guy, and said why did you put a ballpoint pen in my package? And he said that he likes to include little free gifts with every purchase. Well that made me irrationally upset. BecauseI thought it might've been an accident. But no, he intentionally did that. What is he thinking putting a ballpoint pen inside of a shirt? I never asked for a ballpoint pen, or anything other than the shirt I purchased. Luckily, my shirt arrived undamaged. But if that pen had exploded, it would've completely ruined the shirt. And I would've been irate. It wasn't a regular run-of-the-mill plain white tee either. It was a vintage shirt, that cost me more money than I wanted to pay. And I haven't seen another one pop-up since. And it's been almost 2 decades since I bought it. So the moral of the story is, use common sense. Don't put a ballpoint pen in the same box as a shirt.

Also, a thank you note will have some weight that could bump it into the next tier of the first class package weights. I would not be happy if it cost me $0.40 cents more plus the cost of the thank you card.

I use my $25 store shipping supply coupon towards 400 EBay branded thank you cards each quarter. I end up paying like $16 (I think it'll be $18 now ... 🙄🙄) out of pocket for them. So 5 cents or less per card.
I just (hand)write "Thank You! AJ". Christmas time I write "Happy Holidays!"
Most people probably trash them, a small percentage of my feedback from buyers do specifically note my thank you notes. They thank me for my thank you notes or say how its a nice touch. I like it because I sign it "AJ", maybe a subtle connect that my store is AJ's C&A. A reinforcement of me, my store, who you're dealing with. A reminder of who you bought from. A personalization. A human being on the other end.
I probably wouldnt buy anything else with the store coupon... so I get to use up the coupon and in the end its only a few pennies per package, I'm fine with doing it and it can't hurt. I rather get the thank you card rather than a packing slip!

I have been writing "thank you" on every packing slip since I started selling. I've literally written it over 100,000 times when you include my Amazon sales. I thought about getting a stamp to use but I like the idea that people can see that I actually took a second to write it myself. I always like it when I get an order where the seller took a second to hand write a thank you on the packing slip.

I appreciated those who choose not to write thank you notes.
The more that do not, make the ones who do more special.
