Texting numbers on buyers response.. what's with this?

I am getting buyers leaving text requests with a phone number on my sales records.  What's with this?  When I go to look them up they show as a "non-registered" buyer.

Scammers are attracted to new sellers who offer auctions. Auctions offer a 4 day payment period during which scammers try to get you to go off ebay and trick you into sending the item without a real payment. You will find scammers on all venues and if you stick with ebay you should consider using BIN with immediate payment. Most of your auctions get one bid anyways so why not switch to BIN selecting a price that works for you and then you can avoid these types of scammers.
