Technology & the Crazies

During the early stage introduction of cars in 1865 England only crazy people and thieves would want to use them. There was no way a horse could ever be better than a car! Cars were slower than horses, they required dangerous & flamable gasoline. They fell apart and blew up. People were so scared of cars that a law was passed called The Red Flag Act.

The Red Flag Act stated that a crew of 3 were required to drive a vehice.

1.) A driver

2.) An Engineer

3.) A Flag Man

The drover was required to operate the vehicle. The engineer was there to repair and make sure the vehicle was running safely. The Flag Man, who would run 100 feet in front of the vehicle with a red flag to warn pedestrians of an approaching vehicle. People that drove a car were Crazy. And the Thieves....well they didnt care too much about flag men or engineers. They made cars faster. It was in their best interest because being a Theif required the newest technology that other couldnt keep up with and it was also Profitable.

Now over 150 years later Crazies & Theives still drive cars but just because you drive a car you are no longer "Crazy"

Electricity: Crazy people were to thank for this as well. Only someone crazy or nefarious would have a need for such an unholy of things. Destroying your house, the walls, running metal wires throughout just to see the houses burn to the ground? Of course Electricity is crazy. Its also the work of the Devil how it makes noise and makes the sun during the dark of night. No thanks. During the Worlds Fair of Paris in 1900 The mayor claimed after the Fair was over, this "Fad" of Electricity would be forgotten as fast as turning the lights off. Because only crazy people would need it.

Lets change subjects and fast forward to 1992. IBM is the KING of computing. Every machine is an amazing piece of unbridled power and beauty with software developed by teams of the greatest minds in the world and the stock price just proves this point. No entity would EVER take over the position of Computing KING......ever.

That was until some crazy guy needed an operating system and couldnt afford to purchase the one from IBM. His Name was Linus Torvald's who decided he would build an operating system in his dorm room. Six years later he named the operating system Linux. Today, 80% of Android cell phones run Linux, Banks, Cars, Entertainment systems you name it.

Bitcoin, Powered by geeks, hackers, terrorists and drug dealers. Dont forget the theives. This idea will never be adopted. Its too simple the code and does not do anything but send invisible units peer to peer that the hackers call money. ITS NOT REAL! How can it only cost a few cents to send 10$ and  a few cents to send 10 Million dollars? Ponzi Scheme Alert!

But if it does work the 550 Billion dollars a year sent out of the United States from foreign workers to feed their families and heat those homes will no longer be paying the 9% to 15% charged by Banks and Western Union. Once they find out about Bitcoin they can tell there Crazy Friends!

What is your next crazy idea???

How is bitcoin better than the dollar? I think it was you who said a while ago because it is a free and unregulated commodity. If it catches on, how long do you think it's going to be free and unregulated?

If there are no regulations it will draw scammers and the naive. Government will not allow this to continue.

Well, my partner said we should develop a way for people to communicate and share photos.

I said "Dude you just invented the internet"   he comes up with crazy crackpot ideas.

Most of the internet break throughs were started by the porn industry.

They were a leader in online paying systems.  (and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember )

Heck, if we knew what the next big thing would be.... none of us would have to work.

I think it will be "old technology" and alternate use things.

My wife broke the pot on the coffee maker, you can't buy just the pot,

you have to buy a whole new unit.

She want's an old fashoned one that you put on the stove.  But I have yet to find one.

Shipping containers, converted to houses, cool... and the "tiny house" craze.

You can go to Lowes and buy a two story prebuilt "barn"  for 5 grand.

Put it on top of a basement, and you have a nice little home.

I think doing more with less is the wave of the future, I just don't know how to cash in on it.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

I like the idea of bitcoins. I'm sure that something like it will be the currency of the future. But not Bitcoins.

You wouldn't buy a car in 1865, would you?

Don't do beta.

And I think you're right about old technology and alternative uses!

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

You can also buy electric purcolators.   I have one made by Presto, and it works great.
