Tech prob, can someone help me ?

I didn't see this problem on the tech board.  I'd rather post the question here anyway because I know there are so many experts here that seems know more about Ebay than customer service, not that I have tried that route.

I hope I am explaining this properly so you understand.

For several weeks, I thought Ebay just changed how you view listings.  But then when I got on Ebay from my son's computer while I work from home at his place, there is no problem.

When I click on a listing now, I get an ENTIRELY different page.  The "web address" disappears, it is hard (so hard) to read the details on the listing, hard to get to that info and other things keep popping up, and you get to pictures a different way.

????  Hope I have explained this enough so you all understand ? !

And no, I am not technologically advanced enough to show screenshots.

Thank you,

Tammy

It's really hard to help without more details or screen shots.  I guess what I would suggest is that you clear cookies and delete temporary internet files, then make sure you have the latest version of your virus protection software and run a full scan of your computer to make sure you don't have a computer virus or malware causing this.  If you don't know how to do this, maybe your son can help you.

There are some sellers on this board that are much more technically savvy than I am so maybe they'll chime in here to help you.

Good luck with it.

Are you using a mobile device or a Chromebook?

It sounds like eBay links in your browser are now opening up in the eBay app. Sometimes that happens after an update changes some settings. To disable that, see here:

If you have a Chromebook, open Chromebook Settings, scroll down to Google Play Store and select it. Select "Manage Android Preferences". From there go to Apps: eBay: Open by default: Open supported links: and choose "Don't open in this app". Then back out of the settings and you should be all set.

If you have another Android device, then using the device manager, under Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default -- there is a setting called "Open supported links" holding that down gives three choices: "Open in this app" "Ask every time" and "Don't open in this app". Choose "Don't open in this app". Changing that setting should prevent browser links from opening up in the app.

If you have an Apple iOS device, try tapping and holding down the eBay item link in your browser -- you should see some options about how the link is opened that should be remembered for the next time you open such a link.

I just grabbed my wife's Chromebook to try to recreate what I had previously done.

If you have made it as far as the Google Play Store: Manage Android Preferences, you should see "Apps & Notifications" on that list near the top. Tap that, and then if you do not see eBay in the list of Recently opened apps, it should be under "See all ## apps". Once you open up eBay in that list, you should see an "Advanced: open by default" setting -- that is the one you want. Tap and hold that to see your options, and choose "Don't open in this app".

If that does not work, here is an alternative method.

Find the eBay app icon by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, tap and hold it down until you see the options; choose "app info". Choose "more settings and permissions", and you should see that "Advanced: open by default" setting.
