Has anybody figured out how to beat the new 1099 tax bite? Is there a way to get paid for items sold on eBay that doesn't generate a 1099?

Am guessing it is online sellers and this exact premise that resulted in the eventual change to the 1099-k threshold downward to $600.

A lot of time/energy spent to try and generate a work-around, is time that could be spent towards legitimate compliance.

Re: Taxes

Well if one good thing  with the cost of gasoline going upwards is  the trips to the post office should get you a higher deduction reducing the amount of taxes owed.

He's been a member since 1998, when it was common to use your email address as your user ID. He somehow eluded the great email stripping about 10 years ago.

Yes, but AOL isn't exactly short hand for 'keeping up'.

email  or domain style user id's were banned in 2000 (maybe even later 1999) on short notice, anyone who had one could keep it but there was no opportunity for then current users to switch to one and new users could not sign up with one.

Hard to believe there are still active AOL email accounts!

AOL along with Yahoo have been owned in recent years by Verizon, they sold off all their media assets last year to Apollo Global Management for about half what they paid for them 6 years ago.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.....but still alive (for now)

Father in law still has his AOL email. To each their own I guess. Pretty sure they would be glad to get rid of them. I think they mostly make their money as a news aggregator now.
