I have finally had it with you, eBay. Your fees continue to go up and you bait/switch by listing items for free or a low fee, then bill about 14% of the sale price. This is so ridiculous!!! I run a brick and mortar company and don't spend this much on marketing of my own goods! Then to make matters worse you broke your connection with Paypal and the financial section of your site is atrocious. And now you locked my account AFTER requiring my social security number, bank account info and ID, saying I now need to upload additional personal information. I've had an eBay account since about 2004 with zero complaints and this is how you operate. So ridiculous.
I feel like in five years the executives of eBay are going to make some bogus claim as to why the business has lost so many sellers and has such a negative perception. It is because you lost your direction, screw your sellers, and provide little if any actual support. I hope that capitalism works and you go out of business as people demand something better and continue to take their business elsewhere.

It is a decsision only you can make, good luck with your next venture.

Probably you should address your remarks to eBay or its management, not to a group of buyers and sellers.
Best of luck to you with wherever you choose to take your business.

For a decade now, eBay fees have been based on the total payment, not the sale price.
In 2012, I was paying 30 cents + 12.9% to PayPal and eBay.
In 2022, I am paying 30 cents + 12.9% to eBay.

Thanks for stopping by to let us know.
Don't forget to cancel & take down your active listings on your way out the door.

and after 5 years of knowing that eBay was going to Managed Payment system, you now just realize this is reality??
c'mon give us a break here! you have had plenty of time to make your adjustments.
Accept, adjust, adapt and carry on!! OR if that is not agreeable MOVE ON!..
but please just exit stage left without all the fuss and need to make an announcement
these type of threads day after day after day are tiresome to the many sellers who come here to offer their help and assistance to those who really need it.

eBay has several kinds of fees. Listing fees, fees for optional upgrades, final value fees when the listing sells, promotional fees, etc.
Listing for free or for a low cost is a fee to list the ad.
Like you said it's a small fee. However, when it sells then you pay a percentage of the final selling cost which includes shipping and sales tax.
I'm shocked you've been around since 2004 and didn't know about fees. They're not hidden.

I'd just hazard a guess that your b&m store costs you a higher %-age of your sales than eBay does.

My selling costs on average run about 28%.
I have never had a "brick & mortar" operation, but I dare say the selling costs exceed that.
End your listings if you are not going to provide eBay with the info that by law they must have to comply with their obligations to the federal government, as without providing that information you will have to wait 6 months to claim funds from any sales when it is turned over to your state as "unclaimed", and by the way there may be a deduction in the amount turned over to your state, as a %age may be deducted, and remitted to the IRS

any many states require processing fees and paperwork out the wazoo, since they are the final gate keeper, they will make sure for a fact a person is who they claim before releasing funds.

Locking your account because you won't supply your required info is not up to them. It is now federally required. As for bait and switch on fee's..huh. Mine are pretty much exactly the same as they were 20 years ago. of course I never ran the scam of selling products for one penny with $30 shipping. I've always charged either exact shipping cost or had free shipping. Anyway, good luck. I'm probably moving on also but for different reasons.
