TRS and free returns?

I apologize...have lost track of all the changes coming up. I saw on a post here something about TRS will require 30-day free returns. I guess I thought this was for TRS-Plus? Color me confused.

Hi it is for TRS + badge and 10% discount.
You will still remain TRS
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2018-spring/simplified-returns.html

Top Rated sellers will be required to offer 30-day free returns to be eligible to receive the Top Rated Plus discount and badge. Some category exceptions apply.

Personally I will not be offering free returns.

They just keep making TRS Plus more & more difficult to maintain.

Which I guess must be the goal.

Well, they finally got me mad enough to say NO.

I have also abandoned TRS+ (went to 2 day shipping). I was confused whether the free returns applied to all TRS, not just listings with TRS+ on them.

I am also  giving it up
Enough of jumping out of bed in the morning and having to pack and ship items that paid before 2:59 Am ET .
Not going to do 1 day handling any more & not  going to offer free returns.
The 10% is not worth it for me.

I'm also probably going to go to 2 day handling and 14 days returns. Which probably means I'll still ship every day so some get same day, but if I come home from work in the morning too tired to pack I can let it go until AFTER I sleep = )

I don't get many returns but I'm STILL not going with their free returns.

Don't blame you I wouldn't pull the red eye shift and want to come home and pack.
The East coast time is what kills me. I can't tell you how many mornings I wake to sales that I didn't have at midnight Eastern time when I finally got to bed.
So the one day was wearing me.
Once I switch if the sales are before my bed time then I will still ship next day , but if they arrive after I go to bed and  I wake to sales then I may not want to jump through the hoop it will wait until 2nd day.

14 days will no longer be an option.

I consider myself not an entirely stupid person, but I've read the following paragraph from the update many times and still can't understand the meaning.  Does it mean those categories can still offer 14 day returns OR  14 day returns only if they are free returns?  They refer to the new return policy options which include both paid and free returns.

"Certain product categories have unique retail standards and sellers will be able to offer variations on the new returns policy options. Categories that will continue have the option to offer 14-day returns include Collectibles & Art, Cameras & Photo and Medical, Mobility & Disability Equipment."

That Help  page deals with two separate topics.  The discussion of returns is above the section about new TRS requirements, so apparently the 14-day option doesn't require free shipping.

TRS and free returns?

After many years of jumping through hoops to keep my TRS + status I too am considering leaving due to free returns and go back to 2 day and 14 day return.  Has anyone who done this already seen a drop in sales?  Other than the 10% discount are there any other benefits to TRS+ that I am missing?   We do not get a lot of returns and I maybe cutting off my nose despite my face but the ebay micro managing of my business with no benefit is wearing thin.  They keep asking more from us sellers and offering less and less.

As noted above, 14-day returns will no longer be available in most categories:

Starting in May 2018, we will streamline our returns policy options. ....

The five return policy options will be:

  • No returns accepted
  • 30-day buyer-paid returns
  • 30-day free returns
  • 60-day buyer-paid returns
  • 60-day free returns

.... Certain product categories have unique retail standards and sellers will be able to offer variations on the new returns policy options. Categories that will continue have the option to offer 14-day returns include Collectibles & Art, Cameras & Photo and Medical, Mobility & Disability Equipment.

Just got a return request and the buyer is "very disappointed" they're expected to "repackage & reship" to get their refund, so no, not giving free returns as well.
