Customer bought a bracelet from me on August 30th, and it shipped right away. Customer contacted me on 9/25 saying they got a message that fees were due on the package and for them to contact them asap. So the buyer thought it was from me. It was DHL or customs, not me. Anyway, DHL attempted delivery 4x on the 18th of September. Buyer then opened a case on 9/25 with ebay, instead of responding to the shipper that had her item. I corresponded with her multiple times on the 25th and told her to contact DHL or whomever it was that sent her the notice. Ebay issued her a refund on the 25th and closed the case. Then it looks like the item was delivered on 10/2. So she got this $88 bracelet for free basically.
I know everything is pretty much automated on here, and no humans look at most of it, but I think that in cases like this that ebay acted maybe too quickly. You drag your feet on paying the customs, get your money back from ebay and THEN go and pick up your bracelet. Nice scam. I'm just glad I wasn't on the hook for it.

Was it shipped (by you) using EIS?

I would contact eBay via Facebook(eBay for business) and appeal their decision to refund so quickly. If they are going to hand out refunds so fast, in today's scammer's world, then they can pay for it out of all their promotions funds. Don't just not do anything.

They seller did not lose any money according to the post.

Sorry, wrong response. When she opened the case did you open the case file and enter the tracking number? From that point forward nothing was served by contacting her and telling her to contact DHL. You should have notified eBay through the case file that DHL made 4 attempted deliveries but she apparently did not pay the import tax.
At that point a decision in your favor is a slam dunk.

Yes, and I gave ebay all the tracking that I had for it.

Ebay is out of pocket, not me. I provided the tracking to them and I guess that was enough for the automated system to close the case. The way that it is handled by ebay, tho, leaves them and us as sellers, open to scams I think. Would ebay really care I wonder?

I didn't contact her after she opened the case. It was opened at 7:42 on the 25th and closed at 8:10 on the 25th. My first message to her was at 2:21 and the last correspondence with her was at 7:26, after which she opened the case. I don't think I had any other options except to add tracking to the case. That's the point. I upload tracking, nobody actually looks at it, and the case is closed with ebay giving her money back. I'm not out any money, this time, but use another shipping company, etc., and sellers can be.

I did just contact them via FB. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's the "modern" way to contact U.S. eBay employees these days versus the generic phone reps that eBay uses to filter most problems. The Facebook customer service is better, but it can take DAYS.
I read this as eBay refunded your buyer as in, with your funds. I did not realize they refunded the buyer with their own funds.

So why start a thread with the Title that you did? When in reality, INR is NOT a problem for this system??

It IS a problem if it rewards scammers.

That's why I addressed it. If a seller uses another shipping company it would probably come out of their pocket.

I got a response from the FB help and they do look for patterns with buyers. This COULD be a possible scam tactic, so I'm glad that I am letting you know and that I let them know as well. Could also be just a one up, but only ebay will know that now.
Thanks everyone.
