Suspicious buyer

Hi, all!

I’ve been selling workout DVDs, and just got a brand new buyer purchasing a DVD.

The concern is that the same buyer bought another DVD a couple days ago with a different new account.

Called Ebay, and the CSR said that it sounded suspicious & that I could cancel if I wanted to.

My question is: what would you tell the buyer about why you were canceling?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Suspicious buyer

The truth is no one knows why they may have opened a new account. But the bottom line is this: if they pay, I ship.

In the 10+ years i have been selling, I have never encountered a fraudulent buyer. The vast majority of buyers are honest and just want the item they bought, in the condition as described.

Especially if this is a repeat buyer, I would ship. Workout DVDs are not a high scam category.

I wouldn't cancel.  Is it a gibberish ID - random letters and numbers, with zero feedback? If so, I'm 99.99999999% sure it's a guest ID - someone who does not have an Ebay account. They can only do buy it nows, no auctions or best offers, and they cannot leave feedback. They DO have the money back guarantee just like members do.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

My very strong guess is

No Scammer is trying to scam a $10 DVD

I'd certainly hesitate to cancel an order from a repeat buyer. I'm just sayin'...

Thanks for your quick reply! 😀

No, it isn’t the gibberish accounts, both accounts are the same name with different numbers after the name.

What I don’t understand is why wouldn’t they use their 1st newbie account that they used for the 1st purchase, instead of creating a 2nd different newbie account for the 2nd purchase?

Lol, agreed! These are hard to come by, so they are $50.

Agreed, most of my sales are from new buyers that become repeat buyers.

What has me concerned is that they opened a 2nd new account to by the 2nd DVD.

There's a book "Love You Forever" by Robert Munch.

I've bought perhaps 12-15 copies of it over the years.

And every one was a gift.

Today is the fourth day of Hanukkah- and gifts are given on all seven days.

Then Christmas later this month.

Not to mention Kwanzaa.

And Little Christmas in January.

And Lunar New Year in February.

You missed Diwali in November and Eid al-Fitr is not until May.

Buying multiples of a gift item is not unusual.

But if you want to miss a sale, cancel as Problem With Address.  The buyer can still leave feedback.

They might use one account for personal items and the other account to send to family or friends.

Have a great day.

Thank You for taking time with your response!

The issue isn’t with multiple purchases, a lot of my sales are from repeat buyers.

I was wondering why someone would open 2 different new accounts, to make 2 different purchases. Why not just use the same new account to buy the 2nd item?

What workout dvd were you selling?

Beachbody p90x dvds get taken down on a regular basis and there were some complaints they were being purchased by the company so they could get your name and address for their lawyer.  That would make me suspicious if that's  the workout dvd you are selling.

I will go ahead & send it, just didn’t want to lose $50 when it already tight financially.  (have had some scammers, so am extra concerned)

Thanks again & Happy Holidays!

$10, $50; the point is

Scammers want Multi 100 dollar items that can resell easily. A $50 exercise dvd does NOT follow under that scope.
