Re: Successful selling tips

Here are a few tips:

  1. If you are going to sell clothing, you need to put some actual measurements on the clothing.  Lots of guides out there on how to do it, but here's an example of one to check out:  https://adventures-in-reselling.blog/2017/05/04/selling-clothes-on-ebay-how-to-measure-clothing/
  2. eBay is over-saturated with used clothing.  So, if you are intent on selling used clothing, expect that your sales may be slower and profit margins will be smaller than other types of items.
  3. Auctions are best for hot items that sell quickly ... it is also a good way to get rid of stuff at a low price.  But, if your items are slower movers (like most used clothing), the Buy It Now format should give you a better price - the downside is that it may sit in your inventory for months.

Our tips are going to be about eBay, probably.

You've got bids, that's good, be prepared to sell to the winning bidders at whatever price they won.  Make sure you're paid before shipping (check PayPal for "OK To Ship"), make sure you ship within the handling time, make sure you have the tracking # uploaded to eBay.

Otherwise, offer stuff people want, describe it right, get keywords into titles and fill out Item Specifics.

Re: Successful selling tips

DO NOT trust an email that you have been paid. I do not even read the emails telling me something sold, or was paid. If I see an email announcing a sold item I go directly to ebay and from ebay - Paypal to check to see if the money is physically in paypal.

Start your auctions at the lowest price you will accept for the item, chances are, many times that is what it will sell for.

DO NOT cancel a sale.... ever (exceptions to every rule)

If you ever have a problem, come to the boards and ask. If anything is different - come to the boards. If something doesn't feel right - come to the boards.

Read the boards as often as possible.... you do not have to learn from mistakes every time, you can learn from the mistakes of others often... and through the great experienced sellers on the boards you can get very valuable experience it would take years to accrue on your own, and cost you a LOT of money.

There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.

Oh, yeah... don't list a phone or anything else worth hundreds of dollars next week.  You need more knowledge and experience before you want to go there.  Otherwise, you're doing fine so far.
