Strange USPS handling of order

I recently shipped an order via USPS, and the tracking on it is very strange and has me concerned.

For background, I purchased and printed the shipping label directly from eBay.  The shipping address matched the PayPal transaction shipping address.  When generating the shipping label, I purchased insurance in the full amount of the product, and I also purchased signature confirmation.  I shipped the item on time, and it was delivered on time.  BUT the tracking history is very bizarro.  First, it appeared in a status as 'Out for delivery'.  Then it appeared in a status of 'Forwarded'.  Then that changed to a status of 'Available for pickup'.  Then, it was indicated as delivered, and the signer was only indicated as 'D D', which obviously is not a name and most definitely is not who I shipped the item to.

The buyer has only 3 positives and has no negatives, and also has not answered any communications.

Should I be worried about this?  If I should happen to get an INR, am I covered?  Why would the PO allow someone other than the addressee to sign for a parcel?

You purchased insurance & signature confirmation, & USPS does require Id upon pick up.

Unclear if it was picked up or actually delivered somewhere ?

I would make a copy of the tracking for your records, & perhaps if you inquire with USPS you may receive information explaining the  scan events.

Sounds like a delivery attempt was made, nobody was there to sign for it so it was "forwarded" to a USPS facility or agent to be picked up.

On the tracking page they often only show initials and it can be anyone who is at the delivery address. In the case of a pick-up I'm not exactly sure how it works but two possibilities are that the person who does the pick-up only has to provide id that shows the delivery address or they have a letter of authorization from the addressee that wold allow them to do the pick-up.

Doesn't sound to me like you have anything to worry about.

Re: Strange USPS handling of order

Hi, this was a forwarded package so I wouldn't be concerned yet. The tracking says "delivered" so you are covered in a Not Received claim. The fact that it is shown as delivered and signed for are the most important factors, because it means that your part of the transaction has been satisfied. It sounds like the buyer had a forwarding service attached to the address. So, not suspicious.

Not if it was forwarded to a different zip code, unless they changed that(which I doubt).

Thanks.  To update, no, it was not shipped to a different zip code - I was returned to the post office, where it was apparently later picked up.

eBay, however, is continuing to hold my funds even though it was delivered, which is atypical and has me wondering.
