Store connection not secure

When I click on the door to go to my store I get this warning:

The connection to stores.ebay.com is not secure

You are seeing this warning because this site does not support HTTPS.

Surely a company as large as eBay can provide secure connections to sellers' store to maximize visits.

@somanypostcards

Maybe eBay didn't pay their SSL bill?  LOL Sometimes you will get that message if your "computer clock" is off (date).

Makes sense, clocks changed last night.

@toysaver

Generally, most modern devices take care of that automatically.  I once had a computer that the internal battery took a dump.  Every time I turned it on it reverted to  some other year, and I had to correct the date/time in order to proceed each time until I replaced it.   Got lots of "can't access" errors due to expired certs etc.

Re: Store connection not secure

As a potential buyer, there have been times that when I click on a sellers store link, my browser alerts me that the landing page is non-secure, HTTP only.  But this only happens when I follow a path of links to their storefront. When clicking on "Visit Store", the problem doesn't happen.

I have tried to contact e-Bay for help on this issue, but the automated help desk doesn't provide a means for chat or callback, so that is why I found myself here looking for a solution. Finding that other's have experienced this problem too, shows it's not and isolated incident.

The next time this happens, where my web browsers alerts me of Non-https site, I will make note of exactly what steps led me to that situation, and will post it here in the community.

There could be several different reasons why this problem occurs. Possibly:

(1) there is a bug in a not-updated link in a web page, or

(2) a hacker has inserted a link that goes to a fake page or something else.

Good Grief... I don't think it was because eBay forgot to pay for their annual DigiCert fee.

I hope that I can find a solution in contacting eBay for situations that occur which don't fall within the general areas that buyers or sellers are needing help with.

Re: Store connection not secure

Although this is a very old thread, it may still be useful, especially since theOP @somanypostcards  has been fighting a battle with scammers over the past month or so.

I wonder if this report is part of what has led to their debilitating problem?
