Ebay mentioned this in the press release today:
The company launched a Store Preview feature for sellers to view their storefront before publishing, building seller confidence and easing the transition to the new experience.
Anyone know anything about it? I know they've mentioned updates to stores later in the year?

They added a preview button to the edit store page. The only thing you can edit on that page is banner, logo, store description, featured items and sort order so the preview button isn't really important unless someone is struggling with sizing their graphics.
I'm still waiting for the day when we can finally add and delete categories. With all the money we pay for our store subscriptions, it's unacceptable that this has gone on for so long - since August 2020 as far as I can tell.
brian@ebay, any updates on the ability to edit store categories? (Link to relevant discussion.)

here's another quote from today's Conference Call....maybe you could translate this one as well: "So on the store side we're migrating all of our stores to the NextGen platform that's mostly complete, which is a much better platform for them. "
And while we're at it, a while back, ebay announced video capability for stores on Mobile....I have yet to see either a store or listing with this new video...can you provide a URL for one so I can get on my phone and see what ebay is talking about?

I was fiddling with that just today. Is this different from the 'manage your store' button on the upper right where you can create a banner, logo, set featured items, etc.? After I change things around I can look at a previous and then publish.
ETA: I also checked the add and delete categories and I can still do this. Is this occurring all on the app?

Supposedly changes are coming to stores.....so maybe this is a first baby step. Remember, for a long time stores did not appear on the App.....listings did, but not the store itself. Now the store can be seen. But....as far as I can tell....the real change here is pretty basic...Look at wastingtime's screenshot. That's from the Manage You Store page...now click on the Preview Draft button...the draft of your storefront will appear.....but look above it, at the left....see the two icons? The first one appears to be the default....it's the PC version of your store....but click on the one next to it (shaped like a smartphone) and up pops what your draft will look like in "phone format"....(I'm too tired to do screen shots , so hopefully this makes sense LOL) I'm thinking this is a first step towards adding the ability to make changes to the store design....this way you'll be able to see how your store will look in PC or Phone format.
Now, we just have to get to the point where we have real changes we can make to the design.....

and note, one big difference is that the categories and filters on the left of your PC store don't appear on the much narrower phone screen....

Hmmmm....OK....looking at my actual store on the App, below the "Search this store" there is "sort" (which allows for Best Match, High to Low, etc) and "Filter"......click "Filter" and you can then see categories and the various filters that are on the left on a PC....

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques Thank you for that. That explains it! (Duh...sorry) I had just checked the app yesterday (I don't use it much because I don't really care for it) and hadn't seen any of that, and didn't find the announcement in the eBay "press room" (just the Q1 results) - I try to keep up but must have missed it somewhere. I would be nice if the app could match the capabilities on the web version - I'd use it more if it was more flexible.

chapeau,
I think that's one of the things they are working on...trying to make sure you can do the same thing on a phone as on a PC. I only discovered a few weeks ago that I can post to these Boards from the App. LOL
Supposedly later this year we are going to see an overhaul of the store design, with more customization, maybe the ability to include video, easier integration with social media, etc. As with any change, I'm sure some will be happy and others will protest, but I'm looking forward to seeing what they've come up with. I've been saying store design (and listing page design) needs an overhaul for years....so I really do think this is a first step....and the app is accounting for more and more sales...so if we are going to be able to change the look of the store, it is important that we know how it will look on a PC as well as an app.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques this is referring to the new store format that rolled out a few years ago. Not very many sellers are on the old format, but those that are go update here.
The option to add a video is rolling out in phases right now. I don't have a timeframe for when it will release to a wider group of sellers though. If I find a listing that has it then I'll give you a link.

@dhbookds it looks like @wastingtime101 is right. When editing the store or upgrading to the new store format there is now a preview button.
