I think (IMO) it's not going to make any difference, as in increased sales, to change your profile picture to your show your mug. I don't think anyone wishes to see your picture anymore then care to know your real name. I personally feel that ebay isn't a place to disclose your life, or whatever else. To me, it's a business, your here to make money, period. As a side, I don't like nor use social media. I don't want social media monitoring me and trying to control my actions, choices, and speech. I don't need social media for anything, especially my business. I don't care if ebay gives FVF breaks for using social media to sell etc.
My profile photo is a logo (ebay only) I created and use here. People see it who have invested transactions and see it my listings and they know who are dealing with - no picture of myself required. My buyers don't need my picture, they need what they ordered, they need it delivered as described, without damage and as fast as they can get it, anything else they don't care about - your picture, your name, your life story - it's all irrelevant - stick to the business of being professional, complete the transaction and later IF someone wants to chat about stuff, fine, but up front, as a buyer to seller they just want, I just want, for a good transaction experience.
