Stopping the " Sign into your eBay account with Your Google account" POP UP.

I have been dealing with this for about two months after a Microsoft update fro windows 10.  Something happened with Microsoft and Google and this update allowed Microsoft EDGE and BING start to take over YOUR Google accounts. even if you do not run edge, explorer, have a Chrome browser at all, this can happen.

  every single time I log into eBay I get this pop up on the left side of screen. I can click it off of course but I still start trying to type in eBay to sign in automatically because I have been doing it this way for 23 years straight. It is annoying and intrusive and I wanted it to stop.   So I searched and searched. I have seen hundreds of posts  that all have unsuccessful instructions and weird explanations that are not true.

 Here is the solution, I just did it.

There, you will see Google Account sign-in prompts with a toggle. Simply click the toggle, and the sign-in prompt will no longer appear on third-party sites.

A message saying Updated will appear in the bottom-left corner of your screen to confirm that your settings have been saved. You have successfully turned off the sign-in prompt and should no longer see it.

"THERE" where, what are you talking about?  BE more specific!  Unless I know where "there" is located, this is useless.

In the sign-in part of google (after you normaly sign-in) go to settings and click off for google to pop-up for sign in on third party apps.

After spending an hour looking, I did not see that eBay is an app that Google has any relationship to. Googlwe does always suggest I use it to sign into eBay though.

In short:

- Go to Google.com

- Log in, if you have not yet logged in.

- Go to your account page (from that colored circle with your first initial, go to the "Manage your google account")

- Go to "Security"

- Go to "your connection to 3rd party apps and services" and press "se all connections"

- At the top right corner press the "Gear" icon

- Toggle Off for "Google Account sign-in prompts"

Done

If you are going to make the statement: "There, you will see Google Account sign-in prompts with a toggle", it sure would be helpful if you actually included the link for the "THERE" that you refer to.

After all, there are only a few billion possible pages that could be "THERE".

So, you have to have a Google Account and you have to be logged in, probably using the Chrome Browser, to get rid of the popup??? 🤣🤣

1st, I don't have a Google account and don't plan to have one in the future.
2nd, I don't think this will work if you don't use Chrome, which I don't.

3rd, the way eBay has implemented the login seems not to be GDRP compliant to me.
Google does not (try to) set cookies, but GDRP is far more than just cookies -  like, loading external 3rd party scripts or even 3rd party webfonts without explicit user permission. This login popup does both. Without asking.

In other words: This "solution" is not a solution - it's a perfect demonstration of the problem!

It has instructions IF the user has a google account AND chrome. I have neither and still have not found a way to shut this down. I use FireFox and there is no settings for this other than "block pop ups" which clearly is not working. MalwareBytes "block item" does not work either. This is something Ebay should be addressing and allow users to shut it off. What say you EBAY? Even if I had a google account, I would NEVER allow them to handle ANY passwords for ANYTHING.

I don't use google accounts.  I am just happy I found a way to make the pop-up go away.  I'm using Firefox in M$ Windows.  I click into some white space of the google pop-up.  A click into that white space then shifts "focus" to the popup.  Then, I hit the keyboard escape key.  The pop-up goes away.  I've tried 3rd party add-ons in Firefox.  Nothing I've found keeps the pop-up away.  But, at least, with this workaround, I can dismiss the pop-up so that I can navigate the ebay landing page (index page) to see and interact with that which is hidden by that google pop-up.  Of course, if I sign in to ebay with my ebay credentials, the pop-up goes away but lots of times I'd rather shop anonymously with a VPN.  Good luck to all.  I know this is an old thread but it still ranks as the most popular hit in a google search for this problem so here I am offering what little I can.  ☺
