Spring Update This Week?

I'm hoping so. My store is up for renewal at the end of the week, and I'd like to know what's in the update before making a decision on how to proceed this year. Last year the update was released on Feb. 27th (Tuesday).

I'm thinking I might just go monthly regardless, then if I decide to go with a yearly subscription, I'll do it on April 1st, then I'll be out of this cycle where my store usually renews a few days before nasty surprises get dropped on us. As I recall, ebay HAS been kind enough to allow an "opt out" period after the last couple of spring updates, but I think I'd rather just reset my renewal dates to not be so close to the update.

That's a good strategy.  Once you've made the decision to go monthly you should act right away rather than waiting around to see if eBay develops some end-of-month glitch in the next 3 days.

If I go monthly now, would it be for March, and start on Friday when my subscription ends?

I looked things over, and I can't justify $27.95 right now. My Feb. numbers are already not worth it at $21.95.

I think I'll go with another option... my own spring update. That would be cancelling my store subscription, ending 150 or so listings during March as they come up for renewal, then deciding on what to rework and relist or not relist at all.  Anything I relist would no longer offer free shipping.

Meanwhile, the spring update will be released, and I can better make a decision on whether to go with a store subscription... and the items I decide to relist will be updated and newly listed.

I have a feeling that Ebay is going to see a lot of store cancellations come May and June when a large majority of stores seem to come up for renewal.  That is when Ebay first put the push on for Sellers to open stores and when they seem to really try everything in the book to get sellers to renew their stores.  I changed to the month to  month last year and am also seriously considering cancelling both premium stores as the sales on Ebay are becoming fewer and fewer and just not justifying the extra expenditure, especially when they dump Turbo Lister and then sellers need to find another listing program and pay another monthly fee.  Ebay had the option to charge for Turbo lister and even did a survey about it and evidently based on the UK decision has decided to once again throw another fee at sellers although they won't be the ones collecting it, but I believe they will feel the pinch that Sellers do as sellers cut back on expenses for nothing more than listings and advertising.  That seems to now be Ebays focus rather than sales, how much money can they squeeze out of sellers and still not have to deliver Sales.

Yes. Stores are billed  a month in advance.  You've already paid for February. If you cancel at any time during February, then the new subscription terms take effect on March 1.

Don't forget there's a Starter subscription with 100 free insertions for $7.95 on month-to-month.

When you sign up for a Store subscription, you get the full number of free insertions even for your initial partial month.  So if you drop your current Store, then on March 1 if you have no Store you get 50 free insertions.  Then after you use those up, sign up for a Starter store and get 100 free insertions to use for March.  New month-to-month Store subscriptions are a commitment for one full month plus the balance of the month when you sign up.  So if you sign up for a month-to-month Starter store in March you are committed through April, but you'd only pay a fraction of the $8 for March and still get all 100 free insertions. Then another 100 free insertions for April for $8. Then if you cancel that during April there's no further commitment after April 30, and no penalties.

fwiw, as soon as my daughter downgraded her store to a starter she began getting promo offers.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.
