Change the selling board because we sell for xtra money and to limit it to 600 a year is attacking the selling platform s

Maybe you should consider getting a part-time job if you need a bit of extra money.
Oh yeah, you'll have to report every penny to the IRS.

Nobody is being limited to 600 dollars a year.

You're not limited to $600 a year. Believe it or not we still live in the greatest nation in the world and you can sell on ebay and be as greedy as you want and make millions if you as a seller have that capability.
You read that right. Millions.
That $600 has absolutely nothing to do with how much you can sell here as far as a limit.
That $600 has been discussed her until when it is brought up again our nose bleeds because our blood pressure peaks.
The $600 is the 1099 tax reporting requirement that ebay is required to report to the IRS for sales. Once you as a seller reach that "threshhold" (Oh how I so despise that word but....that is what those ignorant about the 600 calls it....) ebay is required to report that amount for TAX purposes.
You as a loyal and dutiful tax paying member of the United States will then take that 1099 and will report your $600 or $6000 or $60000 or $600,000 and report that on your tax return. And you know what else you are going to report. Your expenses. Aka your deductions. That $600 is going to drop mighty fast along with any other amount on that 1099.
But...what if you made UNDER $600? Then what? Well as a loyal and dutiful tax paying member of the United States you will then report that amount on your tax return along with any deductions and then sleep well at night.
Of course you can disregard the whole this and possibly get a visit by a couple of guys (or gals or non-binaries) wearing dark sunglasses and neither of them have any sense of humor whatsoever and talk to them.
I hear they are a blast to visit with.

I don't know if these posts are posted to:
Work towards another forum badge (the Posting Badge)
Or to see the reactions....
Or this is seriously the first time they have heard of the $600 threshold and the limit that causes for selling on ebay.
In any case, when I reply, my replies count towards my Reply Badge.
Yippee. Skippee.

Clarify what limit you are talking about. Maybe eBay has a limit on your selling amount as it appears you are an infrequent seller - just a guess on my part. If that is the case you need to communicate with eBay - read this link.
By the way as fast as Congress works - they might review you issue well after you are retired.

Or did we start a different $600 fight and the other $600 threshold fight is old news and dead?
Can someone clue me in?

Congratulations! Yours is the 1,000th thread about this topic.
There are already several related bills pending, as well as incentives to eliminate or delay the threshold decrease.

I'm actually heading down to Congress Monday, I will see what can be done. Most people there are movers and shakers, I'm sure they will act on this immediately. The other people posting that something must be done will surely meet up with me there, too.

Thanks for posting that link! I had been away all summer from posting anything to my store and I was wondering if ebay had dropped my selling limit down to the next level. I hadn't received anything as far as an email from them. But the link showed I was still at my pre-summer levels.
But I think the OP was messaging about the 1099 and the $600 "threshold" and being limited to selling to that amount on here. Of which is all wrong in understanding.
So again we explain to set the record straight.

Who said you were limited to $600 a year, you can sell as much as you want.
Like always, you're supposed to report your income.

The OP's use of "limited" means they want to avoid any reporting of their activities to the IRS and therefore feel limited to a maximum of $600.
I'm confident that most of the people with this type of complaint could sell a lot more than $600 and at the end of the day they would owe VERY little if any additional income tax.

These sellers that chomp at the bit over the $600 have no idea how little meaning that number and the 1099 is. It's the deductions that they need to be excited about.
That is what they don't understand...
There is a very good reason Amazon and Walmart own (or lease) their own trucks and trailers on the road...huge deductions.

Making good progress on that badge. LOL
Do we still get badges?
I would say something like "We don't need no stinkin' badges" but I might get slapped

You are just not understanding.
Last year these posters grousing about the $600 were able to do $19,999.99 before they were required to have their income reported, or the claim that income (insert sarcasm emoji here)
The OP is just one more seller that does not understand what they are posting about, but perhaps one of the 87,000 new IRS folks over the next few years will be able to make them see the light.
