Someone selling antiques wants to hire me just to list the items. They will send me photos, all I have to do is research the item and create a listing. He's asking for my rate. I'm thinking 30% but I really have no idea.

Be sure to consider Net or Gross (Sale price) and whether the item is sold or just listed.

On his account or yours? Unless you have physical possession of the items, I wouldn't do it on mine. Too much could go wrong and damage your own account.

To add to that, do NOT log in on your account from his location or vice versa. If his account were to go down, yours would, too.
We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did. - Thomas Sowell

You have a lot more to think about other than what to charge. If you're going to take on this project then you need a formal business contract to cover all the what ifs.
What will you do when a buyer files a chargeback and you've already paid the consignee?
How will you handle return shipping fees for not as described claims?
Will you physically inspect the items yourself to lessen the chances of not as described claims?
What about shipping damage that's not paid out by the shipping carrier's insurance?
Will your rate be charged on gross or net?
In my opinion, 30% is way too low.

I know if money is tight it'll be tempting to go for it but are you REALLY ready for the fallout? Returns will be blamed on you. Anything that goes wrong will come to haunt you. Others will weigh in and please consider their advice. If it fits for you, go for it, but be VERY careful. Maybe have a written agreement spelled out?
Good luck!

@qualitycustomercare I've been selling for friends of mine for several years now and I've always charged 20% plus fees. I create a spreadsheet for each person in Excel and create columns which show fees and shipping charges, total gross, my rate, and final net amount. Works for my friends and me.
Make sure you have actual possession of any item which you intend to sell. You also have to ship the item to make sure it is wrapped accordingly. You will be held responsible for shipping any item you sell so make sure you are covered correctly. Always think of your selling account first. Best of luck to you....

YOUR A SUCKER FOR FRAUD!
If you don't know this person and you don't physically have the items, what does this tell you?
worry about your own listings! They can do their own!
Wake up people!

Not a great idea. All you have to do is "research the item"? Do you have any idea at all how much time that can take?
Furthermore, any issues with any item will damage your account, not the owner of the items.
Too many negatives. Personally, unless I were starving and homeless, this is not a task I would take on for any amount of money.

Make sure you use their account and not yours to do this.
You might want to have one charge to list (maybe a flat rate), and a bonus commission (percentage of sold price) if the item sells. Also consider whether to include or charge separate if a listing needs maintenance, like revisions, handling of buyer problems, answering buyer's questions, etc.
As to what to actually charge in fixed dollars and/or percentage, that you will have to negotiate. Hopefully you are already selling and have an idea what it takes in time to create, post, and maintain a listing, as a starting point.

On whose account would you be listing the product? If yours then you need to consider tax reporting implications. If theirs, you need to list from their physical location on their computer to avoid your accounts being permanently linked.
Will you get paid for your time even if the products don't sell?
There are an incredible number of factors to consider here. Don't jump in if you're not 100% prepared and informed.
I'll sell the occasional item for family, but I won't sell for a stranger because there's too much liability and nobody would want to pay the rate I'd require to make it worth my time.

30% of what? If the item doesn't sell it's 30% of nothing. Not very good wages.

No less than 50% of the net profit.

Did you notice that the OP would be doing research on antiques?
