Someone ordered an expensive item from my eBay store that required signature confirmation. The item is sitting in their post office and they're telling me that they're outside of the country (US) and that they can't pick it up. Is the post office going to send the package back to my house? It's quite heavy, 60+ LBS.
He's requesting that I make the post office just drop it off & ignore the signature requirement, is this a scam? Or should I try to get the post office to drop it off? I've never ran into a situation before, can anyone with more insight help me here?

@lakefor94 wrote:I dont advertise signature required on any listings. I make a game time decision after vetting, on quite a few orders under $750. I just let the buyer know and provide the tracking so they can be aware and make arrangements if needed. If a buyer balked about the signature, I would recall as fast as I could.
Why? Below $750 Signature confirmation gives you nothing that Delivery Confirmation doesnt already give you for free.
You only need SC on shipments of $750 or higher because Ebay will not uphold an Item not received dispute in your favor without it (even if tracking shows delivered). But below $750 you are getting nothing additional for paying the extra fee and you may be inconveniencing your buyer at the same time.

It's the Mitsubishi F700. I had 3 in stock and he bought all of them @ 280 each, I never anticipated someone ordering all three and then it was an automatic signature confirmation.

HOW LONG WILL THE SELLER BE OUT OF TOWN?
I believe USPS will hold SC packages for 15 ( maybe 10) days. If the buyer will return within this time, then no worries. Check the usps website or call to be sure of the time frame. Also, you cannot remove the SC at this point.

Buyer being out of the country means nothing if seller didn't disclose signature would be required None of it means anything if that's the case and you guys should know that.

IF THE SELLER DID NOT DISCLOSE ON THE LISTING THAT A SIGNATURE WOULD BE REQUIRED FOR DELIVERY THEN THE SELLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PACKAGE AND FOR DELIVERY OF PACKAGE EVEN IF BUYER CANNOT BE HOME TO SIGN FOR IT. PACKAGE IS SELLERS RESPONSIBILITY UNTIL BUYER TAKES POSSESSION OF PACKAGE, PERIOD. IF SIG. REQ . WAS NOT DISCLOSED OR WAS ADDED AFTER PURCHASE. PRETTY SIMPLE.
