I have been reading about so many glitches as a result of the evil GTC. It is true, some things are occurring.
1- I caught 2 items of mine where the inventory was increased to 2. I am pretty sure I don't have 2 of them but 1
2- I got a sale last Saturday of a Tektronix manual. I didn't pay attention to it, I even lowered the price a week ago. Why? Because I got several manuals of the same, except the revisions are different. So, this morning when I went to pack it and ship it, I couldn't find the sold version. Upon examination, the manual was sold last January. Same pictures, same everything.
I just messaged the buyer letting him know of the situation. He got back to me saying it's OK.
Pheeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww

the answer is to double check your listings.
Thanks!

LOL! That doesn't really seem like a long-range solution! Without going back and rereading them, I thought maybe someone had come up with some kind of a solution.
Weren't there some people who suggested it has to do with the use of the "Out of Stock" feature? And that if you remove that, it solves the problem? Maybe that doesn't work . . .
The manual in this case, was listed for being unique among the ones I got given the revision date. So, once it's sold, quantity of one, it shouldn't be back on my listings. Period!
Thanks God the other manual I got was OKed by the buyer. I am saved!
And......no, there's no solution. The blues are not around for anything else but you know what. To close an old threads because it is "too old".
That's why you better open another topic of the same subject.

It seems that this is what is called a ghost listing. There have been reports on these.

I do see there are threads from as early as 2015 through 2016, 2017, 2018, and into 2019 about the same issue, so it must not be due to the GTC policy change. Notthat it helps any . . . but at least it's one less thing to blame on GTC! 😉
If the problem existed previously with GTC listings and the forced GTC Policy Change is causing a problem for members who now have to use it ..... it appears to be a direct link to the GTC Policy Change.

Do you recall whether anyone provided a solution to prevent it from happening? Or a possible solution?

There is also the new phenomenon of Ghost Buyers ..... who used to be here and now they're not.
They sometimes post here at Community Boards.

I'm sorry, but the only solution I have ever read was to carefully check your listings.
Wait, something else just occurred to me. It may be that deleting listings after sold was suggested. I am not sure of that, though.

I am not that well versed in computer tech aspects BUT my hunch is this has something to do with Ebay's main frame memory that is failing or on overload when it looks for words in the title and somehow is overlaying something from the past and therefore repopulating old listings by word search not by item number or it may have something to do with the "catalogue photo database" which is an even grimer situation... if someone rewrote a code for linking photos to titles etc. recently just as the new GTC dictum was launched I noticed occasionally when I was trying to compose a listing there would be a hiccup on the site page as it tried to initiate upload of 1st photo from MY picture file and others, maybe not even, in that picture file were flashing for a second - usually 2 as if a system was scanning my files. It has never happened in my computer life and certainly not within my own computer, only when I was trying to do a listing. It shouldnt even be able to do this on the Ebay side and I dont think its my memory as I have a yr old computer w/ Windows 10 updated regularly, albeit the photo file is large but my photo loader is working fine.
Yesterday I found further instability when another seller's listing had one stated time left in the main search and then clicking on the listing off by 3- 6 hrs and I let them know.
Between errors, bugs and overload unf we have to be very careful - my personal feeling is I realized recently if so many are being forced in to 30 GTC that means there is the propensity to have more listings up on ebay (for longer time) which could certainly tax and overload the servers. Benefit of shorter listings & auctions potentially less load on the system, even though more reconcyling to do. I dont know the sell thru rate % of BIN vs auction
on a daily basis but these issues may factor in.

No solution, no way to prevent. every response from the "OTHER" side of the fence is "This is a Sellers Mistake" no blue or CS rep has ever acknowledged it EVER Happening or being a glitch.
