So upset

I sold an item for $60 approximately two weeks ago I received a request yesterday that the item was never received and in the message the buyer says verbatim I don't even live at that address anymore refund! I shipped to the address provided and when I check tracking it says it's still in transit however USPS says the item is likely long gone. EBay is siding with the customer even though they provided the wrong address so now I have to refund and lose my item? I am extremely upset about this I've called eBay and they don't seem to care

Assuming that PayPal was involved in this transaction, What shipping address do they offer on your buyer? If it is the same incorrect address, PayPal should cover you. For some strange reason though eBay does not. If it's the same incorrect address registered with PayPal (especially if it is a verified address) you should be covered through them. I know a lot of sellers dis PayPal, but they have helped me out many a time.

The address isn't the problem.

The problem is tracking not showing the package moving or that it has been delivered.

Really no reason to call, if buyer claims they didn't get their package and USPS shows no delivery scan, they will refund the buyer.

BUT.... as the buyer responds saying that "I don't even live at that address anymore", indicating that it was shipped to an incorrect address that was provided by eBay. That would tump all, regardless of stagnant tracking activity. The USPS doesn't know it's the wrong address, which is no doubt why tracking is in a quandary. The USPS can only work with the information that it is given.

Unfortunately none of that matters. If the buyer files an Item Not Received dispute, eBay will simply look to see if there is a Delivered status in the City and ZIP Code of the address provided with the payment, and go from there. If it shows as Delivered, the seller wins; if it does not, the seller refunds.

A bad address doesn't make any difference.

If there was tracking that showed the package was delivered to the address given, buyer would have lost an INR claim.

untill the seller calls ebay and shows the email where the buyer says "I don't even live at that address anymore" and ebay checks the sales record and the ship address is the address he listed he doesn't live at anymore then should rule in sellers favor. It's not the sellers or ebays responsibility to make sure ship address is correct on an account prior to hitting that "Buy Now" button.

Right, but what they should do is not necessarily what they will do. In addition, the problem in this case is that the seller can't find any tracking evidence to show that the package went anywhere, so without a Delivered status, the exact address provided with the payment hardly matters.

Go to your local post office and ask for the Post Master.  Take the tracking number.  Ask for them to find the package and send it back to you.   It is probably at the post office where delivery will be attempted.  it may cost you, but at least you will have the item.

Then go to the dispute and enter this data.  Item was purchased with this delivery location (note address) but buyer now says they do not live there.  This is not my fault they do not know where they live.

FIGHT THE CLAIM.  everyday argue that it's the buyers fault.  And maybe eBay will just pay them to get rid of them.

At that point-go to Site map, down the center column to Blocked Buyer List and add their name and save.

not saying your wrong there! we all know the Should and Do are different yet, weather the package is lost or not, it's the buyers responsibility to make sure they have right address on the order at checkout. Even Ebay can't argue that! On side note to the tracking - "seller can't find any tracking evidence" well if the package has tracking (which it should) then the package will indeed show scans. Even if it "didn't go anywhere" it will show scan that the item was in possession of say USPS or show scan it was delivered to the first distribution center. So I'm finding it bit hard to believe - and it's likely ebay saying the same thing and that is why it was ruled in buyers favor.

You might be more correct than what you realize. Did you receive a courtesy resolve from eBay or PayPal? Judging by your transaction count in your feedback I would have an idea that was the case.  They would do that, back in the day but I don't think it happens very often any more.
