So how's GTC working out for the small one of a kind sellers?

I have to say it is making it much more difficult for me. This morning is a good example, I slept in and did not log in on time to cancel 10 listings so I had 10 listing renew today that I didn't want to be relisted hello this is just day two! So now I will have to set my alarm clock so I can baby sit my eBay listings just so I don't get caught having items relisted that I don't want to get listed.

Good luck to ALL the small sellers out there!

ekmadonna,
No, it doesn't. This has been explained, and confirmed by the blues, many times. a GTC listing is treated like a 30 day listing when it comes to the Ending Soonest search order and also when it comes to ebay sending out "ending soon" notices to watchers. So, as the GTC listing nears its auto renew date, it goes higher up in Ending Soonest. That's true the first time it renews, and that's true the 10th time (or any other time it renews).

Doing just fine here.  Mailed out three things today and another one sold while I was at work.

That's the major thing I love about selling online. Stuff can sell while I'm working an actual j.o.b. or even sleeping = )

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Exactly!  A ton of my stuff sells either while I'm asleep or at my actual job.  It's always nice to check in to eBay while I'm on a break and find out that something sold.

can you please show or direct me to where this has been stated by a blue or in any policy that every 30 days a gtc listing moves up in ending soonest search. I do not believe it. If I am wrong I will be the first to admit it. I would like to see where this is stated. thank you

Here's one example, from Weekly Chat:

GTC: We know that GTC listings are treated like 30 Day FP listings for purposes of the "Ending Soonest" search order, that is, as they near the end of their 30 day cycle, they rise in Ending Soonest. Does eBay also treat GTC listings like 30 Day FP listings for watchers? To be clear: I believe with 30 Day FP, a watcher receives a reminder that the listing is about to end as the end date approaches. As a GTC listing nears the end of its 30 day cycle, does a watcher receive a similar notice? (I think there is some confusion about this, with some sellers believing that a GTC listing is a "permanent" listing with no end date. Wouldn't it be more accurate to describe it as a 30 Day FP listing that ends at the end of Day 30, and then renews automatically? (I do realize that time frame may change, depending on ebay's solution to the billing sync issue plays out, but that's a couple months in the future)

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - You're correct in your breakdown of GTC: from a buyer perspective it is presented as a 30 day listing. This means that if a buyer is watching the item they will get the notification that it is ending soon. My personal watchlist has a number of GTC listings that are on my 'someday' list and I get a notice of them ending every month. I really should just buy the first aid kit, with spring on the way.

Here's another one:

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques wrote:
Tyler, My understanding is that the "Ending Soonest" sort treats GTCs as 30 days....so a GTC at the end of its 30 day cycle is high up on the ending soonest page, with the time left displayed.

But, as far as new listings go, I think it is treated differently, isn't it? The "newly listed" sort shows items in the order of listing, but not renewing. In other words, only listings NEW to the site are shown. Since a GTC renewal is NOT new to the site, it isn't shown as if it were newly listed. GTC listings only get to the top of the "newly listed" sort the very first time they are listed. Whereas, a 30 day listing that has ended and been manually relisted, is treated as new to the site (since it has a new listing number).

Am I wrong or right about that?
Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - that's my understanding as well.

Also, it's easy to test this. Search " easter white ceramic rabbit" using Ending Soonest (but do it fairly soon, since this GTC listing is going to be turning over soon)

As I type this, I have a GTC listing scheduled to turn over in about 19 hours. The title is:

Vintage Easter Decor White Ceramic Bunny Rabbit with Carrot 11" Tall Yozie Mold

I just used that search term, and my listing was showing pretty high up on the ending soonest page, with the number of hours "left" displayed. This is not (obviously) a 30 day listing, it is a GTC listing. If you have GTC listings up, you can do the same sort of thing with your own listings.

thank you for taking the time to post the blues answers to the related topic. I still am not convinced that every 30 days a gtc listing will show in the ending soonest sort BUT I will make a point to research and test this with my own listings. If I find that they actually do show in ending soonest after 30-60-90 days I will be sure to pm you and confirm any findings. thanks for your input.

You can see it with my listings as well.  Search "Ty Beanie Boos Mist" and mine will be right up at the top of the 'Ending Soonest' search as it is scheduled to roll over in a few hours.

Hi, No need to PM me unless your findings contradict what I've told you, what the blues have said, and what others have said as well.

I'm curious as to WHY you think they wouldn't show? They have always shown before the rule was changed to all GTC for FP listings. So, it's no different from what it's always been.

This is incorrect.  Anytime the 30 days nears its end it will show up in ending soonest.

ekmaddona, Just realized the rabbit is on its first 30 days, so not the best example. Search using Ending Soonest for ceramic little drummer boy.....at the moment, mine will be at the top of the page with about 17 hours to go. He's been up since before last Christmas, this will be his 5th time in ending soonest....

Yep, it's showing 3h58m left in the Hub, so of course it's going to be right up there at the top.

I submit all of my listings around 9-9:30pm Pacific time, so it's easy to END listings before they roll over.  Right now, I am ending listings with a quantity of 1, and relisting those as auction style.  I am letting the remaining listings roll over, and watching that I don't go over my 250 fixed price listings since I am paying for a Basic store.
