Just received the holiday stationery I ordered. Arrived inside a Priority Mail cardboard envelope shoved inside an eBay bubble mailer, with a Media Mail label. Shipping was listed as free economy.
1. Do I mind my own business leaving positive feedback for the item being as described and arriving in a timely enough manner?
2. Do I write an educational email to the seller (+300 positive feedback, sells all sorts of items) explaining the evils of using PM supplies for non-PM packages and sending non-media items by MM, asking him not to do it in the future? If he flames me I'd neg the snot out of him, if he responds politely I'd likely leave no feedback at all.
3. Do I march over to the post office with my Santa paper and the packaging and rat them out? I can almost guarantee that the charity ladies who (wo)man the post office around the block won't know how to retroactively charge the seller, which means I'll have to go to the other post office. I'm disinclined to put myself out that much.
Any options I'm overlooking? I'm inclined to option #2. I'd add that I often don't bother to log out of my selling account and go to the effort of moving over to my buying account for small sales. In this case I did use my buying account -- wouldn't dare cause a ruckus on my selling account for fear of retaliation. And if he blocks me that's fine because there's a million to one chance I'd stumble upon him again anyway when making a new purchase.

Personally, I would mind my own business because it's easier.
If I'm happy with the item, I'd leave pos feedback and move on.
Does your postal system not have something like Media Mail for books etc? I admit I am totally clueless on how the postal system in UK in set up.

Somebody has to.
Yes. The postal cops.

You know, it's not that big a deal. So trivial. It is not necessary for any of us to police others over such meaningless issues. One should use one's time more productively. Do what you do well, do what you like, and be happy. Separate yourself from the mob.

When a seller uses Priority Mail boxes and envelopes as packing material, they are stealing... from you, and everyone that uses USPS. The Priority Mail boxes and envelopes are given away, but they are not free. I pay for them, you pay for them. It is built into the rates we pay.
I give negatives whenever sellers do it since I don't like to involutarily subsidize their business.
3 of 8 packages this month had PM packaging inside. 2 sellers swore it was a one-time thing, and the third said it was recyled (it was new), and if I left negative feedback, I would be hurting a disabled veteran. I don't think being a disabled veteran give you the right to steal from me and others.

No, we don't have anything like the Media Mail for books etc..
We have 1st class shipping, or standard shipping which is cheaper, but takes a bit longer to be delivered.. Or, we can use a courier service.

We're not talking about a dust jacket for a Stephen King novel replaced by one for a Dean Koontz, here. I'm honestly having the most difficult time understanding why using Amazon boxes to send items from Ebay is as big a deal as you make it out to be. You're gonna raise your blood pressure over a box? Personally, I'd be more concerned with what's inside the box.

I think the person who placed an order with an American seller on eBay but received a drop shipped Amazon Prime item from China is annoyed because he was trying to spend his money in a way *he* deems ethical and meaningful (buying American, buying from an individual) but then received a sealed Amazon box from China. He feels like the buyer misrepresented himself as a "USA seller" and thus thwarted his efforts to buy what he wanted from who he wanted; to shop small and shop American.
I don't think this is about reusing Amazon boxes.
