Smells Fishy

Buyer claims to have paid for item and that his payment is pending. However I received an email from paypal stating the buyer has cancelled the payment. I told the buyer this and he claims it's still pending on his CITI card. I have no proof on my end of any payments processing on Paypal or Ebay. Situation seems weird. Buyer sent a photo dated on the 12th of his pending transaction on the 12th. Looks like a scam, smells like a scam. I attached my reply as well. Hopefully a misunderstanding. I am a new seller so I am a bit paranoid.

Send the buyer the screenshot of the PayPal e-mail that shows they cancelled the payment. Tell them to contact PayPal or eBay CS if they're having problems with payment.

As a new seller don't list high value items unless you list as local pickup only.

Re: Smells Fishy

Unless something shows in your PayPal account - not some email that says it is from PayPal when it may very well not be - you have not been paid.  Perhaps the buyer inadvertently missed a payment on the CC account, is over limit, or just a scammer - who knows, at this point, but with the note from PayPal about them cancelling the payment, I might think the last.

Re: Smells Fishy

@*katyonak* Being that you are a new seller that is selling electronics you could be getting scammed. Don't ship the order until you figure out what is going on. Especially if it is the "MSI MEG Z390 GODLIKE" motherboard.

Verify the person messaging you is the actual buyer by comparing the user ID.
Don't share any contact info with the buyer, and only respond to messages that are through eBay messages.
Only verify the payment status on your own PayPal account.
Only ONLY only ONLY only ship to the address supplied in the order.

When in doubt contact eBay for support.

Re: Smells Fishy

If the transaction was cancelled, it should show when you log into paypal AND when you log into ebay.

Don't make decisions based on a email you received!

Good luck and stay safe!
