I would love to see eBay run some commercials for us resale sellers. I have seen commercials for these other sites on TV like the Real Real and others.
For example: they should show someone wearing out their favorite pair of jeans and they love them so much that they wish they could find that same brand/style again but the jeans are from 5 years ago. She taps on her eBay app and Boom! There they are, her favorite jeans. Now she can be happy again. Or a young person who wants a pair of expensive sneakers but Mom says "No, those are way too expensive, look on eBay" and just like that, he finds them for 1/2 price.
What about that kind of stuff?
People need to be reminded that we sell awesome stuff for cheap! Just saying!

Thrift stores often run massive discount sales.
My thrift store runs .79 cent clothing sales 3 times a month on brand names and often times NWT items that cost originally over $100
Similar things are going on in thrift stores around the country.
Plus, there's yard sales.
So, if people are not thrifting / going to garage sales to buy super cheap clothing for themselves, then they're probably one of us, and they're re-selling this stuff.
Sounds like a good idea, right?
Well, when TONS of people get the idea that they can find amazing brand name clothes for under a dollar at thrift stores, then they buy this stuff, and list it.
So when you have thousands of people doing the same thing, you get an extremely saturated category.
So even if more people flocked to Ebay to buy things that they can EASILY find for a doller or less at thrift stores / garage sales, there are thousands upon thousands of clothing listings, making the category extremely bloated, and no amount of advertizing can guarantee that your item will be the item that'll pop up in the search results for them.

unfortunately eBay does not want to be associated with the majority of what sells on here.

That would be a good idea. I would hope ebay would listen to your suggestion.

OP, you obviously haven't been watching cable channels. I see the same lame ebay ad at least once a day for the past couple of weeks.
Guy waving around a pair of shoes about how blue is his favorite and then comes the very, very beige - fill your cart with color - ebay logo. You only see ebay twice and it is not spoken.
I think a great ad would be some guy talking with a group of guys about how he can't find xxx to a friend who then swipes and taps on his phone a second and then announces - here are a few - on ebay. Then one of the other guys says I been looking for xxx with the alternate color and the guy spends another second and says here it is, on ebay. And the 2nd guy says no way, and leans over and looks and says hey, wow, that's cheap! and takes out his phone and starts scrolling around and announces Bought it.
Then the ad hits you with the tagline....Anything - Found on ebay.
Of course that would never work in real life, ebay search is less than efficient, but ads are allowed to exaggerate. Maybe they can put a disclaimer line about how ebay search is only good if you know how to use it and are looking for brand new items made in China.

Why do you think that clothing resellers should be treated any differently than ebay sellers in other categories ??
It's bad enough that they are limiting their buyer discount coupon promotions to certain categories.

I rarely list clothing, and even more rarely sell it, but I think a targeted ad would be good for every seller.
Are you familiar with the Gieco ads? Have you noticed that they have several different campaigns running at the same time?
What they have in common is the Geico name.
My favourite eBay ad-- done in conjunction with Canada Post at least a decade ago is no longer on YouTube. It showed various sellers dropping packages into our red corner mailboxes with captions that said "Comic book store. Auto parts store. Beaded moosehide mukluks store. Videogame store....." All different products with the repetition of the eBay name and the Canada Post mailbox.

I get pretty upset that when eBay advertises a disount coupon for clothing and you can only use it at the big warehouse seller's stores....and it's always the same ones. What about us??? How about advertising ALL clothing sellers in the Fashion category coupon link! Nordstrom brands are popular and that is what the majority of our items are. We only benefit if there is a site-wide coupon.

My favorite ebay ad is the business woman playing football and catches the pass of a leather purse that she sniped a bid on and scores the TD.
But nothing is as great as the Amazon Give a Little Bit ad.

EBay has been terribly slow. Just read online that EBay may be giving more exposure to liberals than conservatives. Don't know if it is true but it is very easy for internet companies to link up to Twitter, Facebook, etc. to determine someones political leanings. Wondering if anyone has heard the same.??

OH they know ebay sellers sell cheap and are getting cheaper by the second. ...and how you can also get everything for free. Also not the best message to advertise. There are medium and high end sellers on the site too.
And BTW...there are other sellers on ebay besides clothing sellers. So NO, one category, I am guessing the one you just happen to sell in, should not be the only one advertised.
That would be a little unfair to everyone else, don't ya think???

I personally also do not only want buyers that want to buy dirt cheap or expect everything dirt cheap brought to the site. If I and many other sellers wanted or needed that I/we would sell at the flea market and save fees.
We are here to sell at market value....and we deserve to sell as much as anyone else does.
