My favorite subject: getting views on off site search engines. What has changed for me since GTC? Considering eBay has professed the main reason for mandatory GTC was to get better visibility in Google and other engines. I only use GTC and not auctions so haven't tested what happens if you have auctions listed.
whohou.com: shows all of my meager 12 active listings as of today. Matches what I have listed now on eBay.
Google Shop (GS): newly listed GTC items from 2 weeks ago only showed 3 of I think 9 active and only sat there for 2 days. Then gone to 0. Then I listed another newly listed batch a few days ago and they are in GS today but will disappear soon.
Before all of these changes GS showed all of my active listings. And those that rolled over into another GTC 30 days don't show at all. However, for those that are active on ebay now (12), some not all are intermingled here and there amid hundreds of Google Images, rather than just specific to the GS.
Topratedseller.com: no active listings show like they did before this change over, yet do show listings that ended with or without a sale with pix blocked out. Only good thing now about this site it has a clickable button to see your full account which takes me to all my active ebay listings.
Long story short...what experience are others having related to this topic? Did your visibility increase on other search engines? And been down this road here: yes, all of my listings meet the outside search engines' criteria.

”It used to be a graph and number of views.” Yes, exactly
I went and looked at Google Shopping and Whohou when you mentioned them in your first post...
I don’t understand how the search works? The first one has no drilldown, I was looking at a flood of Chinese sunglasses and fake high waist shorts when I clicked “vintage “, and the latter said no results when I asked for “vintage dress.”
Plus, I don’t understand how searching for yourself with your own ID shows what a customer sees? Wouldn’t they be searching with general terms?
I’m completely confused on how to use the wider internet to my advantage.

Switch places on those results - Google had no results and Whohou had no drill down and a bunch of reproduction junk

Is there still a traffic section where you can see how many views came in from off site?
Thinking of using summer to list like crazy and see what shakes loose.
You can see the views from outside of eBay by going to Seller Hub>Performance>Traffic

Thanks Mc, I guess I need to look at Seller Hub once in a while lolol. When I clicked on your link it showed me the traffic. Just an old broad here...always was able to get that traffic report within my manage eBay store. Thanks a lot!
And red: I have never done any drilling down or up lolol on any of those sites I referenced. Everyone should also go to the Topratedseller.com site so you can look up anything and everything related to sellers on whatever selling sites in the U.S. and International. I do love that site.

Not beating a dead horse and I love horses lol: on those sites put in your selling ID. What a buyer sees I have no clue but at least I get some satisfaction someone somewhere MAY be seeing my stuff since the eBay search has a lot to be desired at this point in time. Good Luck! Oh, love your items. Have been holding off listing my true vintage until I can figure out if ebay is a good fit (like it was from 2000-2009) or if I need to look elsewhere. The looking elsewhere is for me, a whole new ballgame. But, will deal with it.

And I have asked before on other threads: just what outside "search engines" are considered ebay "affiliates" or others not related where our items are being promoted? Which outside of ebay search engines need to be paid in order to have your stuff visible? I never worried about all of this in the old days since eBay was considered the King. I am from the old school of the Altavista search engine where I had hundreds of views and sales.

I think you are correct with this line of thinking, just my opinion based on how I shop using GS. That is the reason when I look to find my items on GS I usually just search with "recycled can ornaments" not my seller ID.
I just did a GS search for "elephant christmas ornament" to see what a shopper might see with a more specific kind of search. Five pages of results, none of the items were mine. Then I clicked to specifically see eBay and 8 of my items were on the first page. You might want to try searching GS for one of your dresses by vintage +brand name (maybe size, too) to see what comes up.

@abfabvintage wrote:Thanks for your reply. Understand the Temkin post, but there are many recent threads here where the Blues promoted GTC related to getting better visibility with search engines (SEO) by converting to GTC.
I never suggested that eBay has not said that SEO was not a reason for GTC. In fact, I actually agreed that they had said it was! I simply pointed out the I had never heard eBay say it was the "main reason" as you suggested in your original post.
I went back and looked at recent posts by Blues about GTC, and only found one that mentioned SEO - but that post only mentioned it as one benefit in a list of benefits of GTC - and certainly did not suggest that SEO was the "main reason".

whohou.com: is an eBay approved affiliate marketing site. They decide what content they want to promote. eBay does not have a say on what this site decides to promote. eBay provides them with a list of over One Billion active listings click here.
Google Shopping (GS): is a paid inclusion shopping search engine. eBay submits listings for inclusion and eBay pays the fees associated with this search engine on behalf of its sellers click here.
Topratedseller.com: is an eBay approved affiliate marketing site. They decide what content they want to promote. eBay does not have a say on what this site decides to promote. eBay provides them with a list of over One Billion active listings click here.
Google images is also a separate search engine click here just like regular google, google shopping, google images, etc are all separate search engines designed to do specific things. They do not all operate the same way.
Google probably has a dozen search engines (news, trends, shopping, images, finance, scholar, books, videos, flights, etc) All dedicated to specific sub groups and all integrated into the google.com search engine.
Good Luck Selling!

Thank you for the compliment!
You should list your vintage, I’ve done pretty steadily - and the important part of that equation is steady despite “doing nothing right.” I’m too busy with my full time job.
But, it’s time for me to get busy and this summer can be the test: either list in earnest or sell to a jobber/donate.
Although I sold part time since 2002 - 2008, and full time 2008 - 20013.... I never let go of the stock when I went into teaching 6 years ago.
I’d either like my parking/living space back or earn money for repairs - I have a garage, a spare room, and a shed outside that’s full! 😂😂😂😂😂
I DO think there’s money still to be made on EBay, it’s just different. You need MUCH MUCH more up to establish a presence, and the whole concept isn’t the hot new thing anymore.
But, for Pete’s sake - FIX SEARCH PEOPLE!!!!!

I just checked on one of my rare GTC items. I don't have a store. It does not show up in google shopping. Using Google to search, Pinterest comes up first and my item is at the top of that page. After Pinterest, Google lists similar items at several auction houses, all expired. As far as any eBay link, I had to go the 2nd page. PicClick has a link, followed by eBay. When I click on the eBay link to my item, it is also expired.

Hey, Good. Glad you chimed in here. Well, am still trying to figure out the who, what, where, whens of the SEO visibility since it still ain't working for me. LOL. Thanks for your input. I think I just may have to pay my GoDaddy out of pocket to get this under control and get visibility on the WWWeb.

Do not even go there about Sheds. I have 3, 10 x 16 Amish built sheds full of pre-cleaned vintage wrapped in plastic. Just waiting to decide where to list them considering what is happening lately on eBay.

Hi, I have seen my items also on that PicClick site. Have no clue how they got there, but mostly they are ended items.
And when you go to google and click on Google Images, I have sold items (not unsold) referenced as Worthpoint that are at least 7-8 years old? Have no clue why sold items are referred over to Worthpoint, but when you click on the item it shows the full description, my ID, but not what it sold for since you have to buy into Worthpoint to see them. Go figure.
