Hello, I am a brand new part time seller and my girlfriend and I are wanting to start selling some clothing on ebay. My question regarding inventory is this. Could anyone share a good easy inventory system that they use or know of for small items easily stored in plastic and binned? I currently have my items pre-packaged and have them all in a designated bin. I have the bins numbered and I use the custom SKU/or a note on my listing telling me which bin that packaged item is located and I can easily sift through the bin nd find the item to ship. With that being said, we plan on prepackaging our clothing items for easy storage and and shipment ,the bins are quite large, so I would be able to fit maybe 75-100 shirts per bin as an example.
Does anyone do this and if you use say an alphanumeric system to label each pre-packaged item, and then assign a bin, how do you keep track of the numbers or SKU's you have already used.
For instance if I have 100 shirts in Bin A. Each individual item in this bin is SKU'd A1-A100 so I can quickly grab the bag and not have to open a bag to make sure it is the correct shirt. Through the month I sell various SKU's in this bin. How do you keep track of the sold SKU's so they can be reused? IE I sold shirt A34, A21, A67, A46. How would I know that I can use A21's spot with a new listed item and store it in that bin? I don't want to accidently double label an item with the same SKU thinking that SKU is open when it isn't.
I hope I make sense lol. Any ideas or help would be great. I am trying to ramp up into maybe a 250-500 item store over the next few months. I'm currently only at around 30 listings and can already see where I may have a problem in the future with inventory management.
