New buyer purchases an item after hours on Friday. Earlier on Saturday he messages me why I haven't sent the item yet. Later that night he messaged me again saying if I don't send out the item by Sunday, he will report me... I'm guessing he also is implying leaving a negative.
Would you still send this item out to the buyer (on Monday because we all should know POs don't send items for eBay on Sundays) and run risk of a SNAD return? I have no problem for getting a defect for cancelling this shipment in order to potentially save on return shipping (and outgoing) costs. I mean I already am getting the negative because I don't have a Sunday shipment deal with USPS.

I wish ebay had kept the handling time displayed on all listings, rather than relying on the estimated delivery times to satisfy buyers. Some buyers get freaked out when they don't see tracking numbers appear immediately.
I've always taken the kill 'em with kindness approach when I'm greeted with such a message. If that didn't work, I might then consider an evasion action.

Had a similar situation. A few days ago, buyer makes an offer and I accept it. He asks, "Can you ship the item today? It's for a Birthday present." I shipped it out that day, upgrading from media mail to FCM. He's in Florida & I'm in CA.
Some buyers seem to think ebay sellers have warehouses across the U.S. It sounds as though you don't ship on Saturdays, which is fine. You can try messaging the buyer & see if they will agree to a cancellation. Good luck to you.

Especially when those estimated delivery times are patently false. I got a neutral for one that was paid on 28th (late) was due (with 2 day handling) to ship out Fri 30th. Carrier dropped the ball and it went Sat instead. FB claims ebay said it was to be delivered on Mon 3rd. and it didn't get there until the 5th. As bubbl;e would say - oh the hugemanatee.
Had another who wanted to know when it would ship and was claiming the ETA for delivery was the freaking day it was due to be SHIPPED.
So tired of this. What's the point of having handling times if ebay feels free to ignore it?
And oh yeah - what's with ebay adding GD to a listing with 2 day handling in the first place?

Thanks for all the helpful posts. So last night I did reply and "killed them with kindness" which is what I always do. I explained to them that their item will be sent on Monday and with reasons why. I Told them they will still get their item soon and apologized.
I failed to mention the buyer's poor grammar and spelling because I thought it wasn't important. But in the 3 messages, literally 1/3 of the words are misspelled... and they missing any punctuation and certain words (kind of like Tarzan or caveman talk). I understand that the buyer could just not be English speaking, but their full name is clearly an American one... like John Smith. Not to sound cocky, but I find messages like these a huge turn off.
So after I specifically told them I would send out on Monday, the buyer replies asking me when I would send the item, and telling me "bleep it's not that hard to send it." (Bleep not really being a curse word I believe, but I've been suspended before by typing versions of that word here). Lol, I'm pretty good with mean comebacks so I immediately thought actually it IS pretty hard to send it out today since USPS won't take your drop off on Sunday. I'm also turned off when buyers ask repeat questions that I clearly answered. I make my replies pretty short so the buyer doesn't just skip thru.
Because of these reasons and some I've read here, I think it's best for me to not send the item to the buyer and cancel, BBL, report them. As mentioned I have enough sales this season to not have to take risks like this, regardless if the item is expensive or not. I MIGHT call my concierge and give them a heads up with this transaction and maybe ask for their suggestion. They'll probably put a note on it in case problems arise after I cancel. It at least shows I made an effort with the buyer and will protect me if there are any problems.

I can also assume that if the buyer ends up unsatisfied with me, that they will never return to ebay... which goes against what ebay is trying to do (attract new buyers). bigdeals.etc
From the sound of your buyers tempermant he would probably do just that and never return to e bay again all because of ONE issue with ONE seller . I know its true that e bay is trying to attract new buyers and all . However lets hope they don't mean new buyers who are unreasonable , demanding , behaving as if they're spoiled and could probably still be living in their parents basement. If I were you I would cancel this sale and state the reason the buyer made unreasonable demands and even threats against you . Tulips

Cancel and block. Take note of name and address and watch for a retaliatory purchase. This is not a newbie, this is an experienced scammer who uses strong arm tactics. southern sweet tea
I didn't think of that possibility ,, yep . You are probably right .There's a method to this buyers madness . 😞 Tulips

Yikes. But what reason are you going to use for the cancellation since he's clearly still asking you to ship it?
I can't help wondering if your cave man buyer just didn't read your lovely kind message at all, and might have responded better to something terse like: "Should I ship it on Monday or should I cancel the listing?"

The estimated delivery timeframe is part of the puzzle but the whole puzzle would show both.

I agree but I suspect that it wouldn't have helped in this case. The buyer probably would have insisted that 1-day handling means Saturday shipping for an item purchased on Friday night.

By your posts I was expecting to see an ID with a few hundred feedback gained at a rather conservative rate ...

?? Why's that? Do my posts follow a specific pattern? I'm just curious.
@hillbillymediaWell said and I understand everything you are saying. And I'd also like to point out that since I am far from the penalty threshold for cancelled transactions, I have no problem taking a defect for doing it to save me the money and grief from this potentially problematic buyer. Ebay gives us this threshold for a reason, might as well utilize it for something that's worth it. I don't want to ask the buyer if they want to cancel, in order to have him actually request it. I don't want to give him that choice anymore because of the circumstances. The buyer might still choose to receive the item but be upset about it. That can lead to problems. Yes, I am unfairly pegging the buyer as problematic post-delivery... it's an educated business decision.
@jbbowers12012The funds are in my paypal account. Actually they were... I already cancelled the purchase, BBL, and reported them.

I'm glad that is now behind you. You don't need more problems post sale and this seemed guaranteed to be that.
