New buyer purchases an item after hours on Friday. Earlier on Saturday he messages me why I haven't sent the item yet. Later that night he messaged me again saying if I don't send out the item by Sunday, he will report me... I'm guessing he also is implying leaving a negative.
Would you still send this item out to the buyer (on Monday because we all should know POs don't send items for eBay on Sundays) and run risk of a SNAD return? I have no problem for getting a defect for cancelling this shipment in order to potentially save on return shipping (and outgoing) costs. I mean I already am getting the negative because I don't have a Sunday shipment deal with USPS.

Seriously, I'd be tempted to message him back "Scotty died and no one can fix the transporter, so I have to ship USPS which does not have Sunday pick-up. Since you have already threatened a report (which you can not do until the estimated DELIVERY DATE has passed) if not shipped Sunday I feel that I have no way of pleasing you, I am canceling the sale."
Too bad we can't give the reason as 'problem with buyers attitude' . But I would state that buyer issued threats. IMO in this case it is better to take the hit than take a hit and lose the item and money too.
Just remember to put them on the blocked buyer list.

New buyer ?? And just who is he/she going to report you to ?? Just purchased and now pushing you to ship the item ! Tell he/she you are not SANTA CLAUS and have no REINDEER to ship your package that quickly ! You have a time limit to ship the item. As long as that is done you have no problems. From BUYER or EBAY !! 😎 Ship it within your time frame and see what happens ! Sellers may not have many rights but this is ( 1 ) right we do have 😄 .

Thanks for your answer. I know some would say to send it, and some would say to not. I just want to also hear the reasoning behind the decisions... like what you just gave me, I appreciate it.
Yes the buyer is new. Just joined 7 days ago. I know I shouldn't have problems with shipping speed and ETA if I just send it out on Monday, but the other concern I have is the buyer potentially being problematic and filing a SNAD return, which I will end up losing money for return shipping, as well as the shipping I paid to send the item out in the first place. I have enough sales this season to not have to take on risky ones. Which is another question... if you think this sale is a risky one to begin with.
I can also assume that if the buyer ends up unsatisfied with me, that they will never return to ebay... which goes against what ebay is trying to do (attract new buyers).

Maybe you can goad him into requesting a cancellation, so you don't have to take a defect hit. Try reponding to him that you are sorry that you will not be able to ship it today, that you can either ship on Monday or you can cancel the transaction if that is his preference.

Is it an expensive item? You could always try to find out why the hurry. In the interest of good customer service, offer to upgrade the shipping to 2-day or overnight if they want it by a certain date. Send a Paypal invoice for the upgrade, or ask if they'd like to cancel, because with few exceptions, no delivery dates can be guaranteed, especially at this time of year. If they continue to set off your hinky-meter, then cancel.

I would message him with handling time and explain there is no pick up on Sunday and ask if he would prefer to cancel. Then block him

Your "customer" is demanding services not included in the ad correct? There ARE rules against this behavior. Most of us know that even though there are in fact rules against this we also know ebay will most likely NOT protect us as sellers. This means you have to use any and all tools ebay provides to try and protect yourself and mitigate any possible cost and account damage. I don`t have to tell you what these tools are and I will not judge you in how you chose to use them.

Just tell them that this is your stop for ebay route and that the stop for the Amazon route is across the street and around the corner. Here, the next bus for you is Monday morning.

Buyer may be misinformed about shipping on Sunday. Clarify this with the buyer telling them there is no way for you to ship on that day. If they cannot wait them tell them you will be happy to cancel the sale at THEIR request.

Or, run down to the fed ex store for them and tell them if they want it sent today they can get it for at least 30 to 40 maybe even 50 dollars extra postage for overnight. Ah, I think NOT.

My experience has been that people that are trouble from the start continue to be trouble. Currently my priority mail packages have been taking 6+ days to arrive. He probably is not going to be happy with the shipping speed of the post office right now. I have enough difficult people in my life that I can't avoid, but I can block people on Ebay.

Holy cow are you serious?
By your posts I was expecting to see an ID with a few hundred feedback gained at a rather conservative rate ...

I'm all for customer service...until someone makes a direct threat.
"Dear buyer,
I'm sorry, but I am not able to ship Sunday since there is no mail pickup that day.
Since you have stated that you will report me if I don't ship, I am assuming that a Monday shipment is not satisfactory for you. Your order has been canceled at your implied request.
Thank you,
Seller"
Cancel and block. Take note of name and address and watch for a retaliatory purchase. This is not a newbie, this is an experienced scammer who uses strong arm tactics.

Sounds like trouble, and the problem is just beginning. My inclination would be to cancel and block.
