Hi,
I sold an high value item and received an email saying the buyer has paid. However, when I try to print the postage label on eBay, it says:
“It looks like the buyer has not paid for this item yet. You should wait until we let you know that the buyer has paid before dispatching this order.”
I haven’t received any payment confirmation notification in the app yet. The buyer says I need to upload tracking details to get full payment update.
Also, I sent the buyer photos and a video of the item through their personal email as the buyer wanted (using the same email as my eBay account).
Given all this, should I wait for official payment confirmation on eBay before sending the item? Or is the email enough proof to dispatch now?
Thanks for your help!

Hit reply on the payment email and you'll see it did not come from eBay.

To add, if you clicked a link in that email and logged into your account through it, you should change your password ASAP.
Also note that good scammers can spoof the return email and make them look very authentic. ALWAYS access your account through web browser or app and not through email links and only use eBay Messages for communication.

That's correct.

That's an instant red flag. This is a 100% scam, and not even a new one. That purported requirement to upload a tracking number before getting any payment information is complete fiction. That is not how real eBay sales work.

That is never necessary. If you do get requests for photos or a video (of 60 seconds or less), you can upload those to the listing so all can see. Sending anything to an off-eBay email address will reveal your off-eBay address, leading to the scam messages that you are receiving now. No real payment has occurred.

You always look for official payment on eBay before sending an item. When payment to eBay has been made, you will get a ship notification that will include the buyer's Ship-To: address. In this case, the supposed buyer's claim that you need to upload tracking information first has confirmed that this is a scam, and no actual payment will ever occur.
@leehoj-34 : Realistically, you have only dodged one scam so far. There are others that can occur as well when attempting to sell a high-value, highly-scammed item on eBay, regardless of the seller's level of experience (e.g. fake empty-box claims, fake shipping damage claims, return swaps, etc.), but when your feedback count shows that you are a new and presumably inexperienced seller, you will attract the most number of scammers to your listing. An item like your MacBook Air would be best sold as a Local Pickup for cash.
