Hi. Im somewhat of a new seller, and have 161 positive feedback. I realized I accidentally misremisreprested an item that an eBay buyer paid me for yesterday. I havent sent the item yet and messaged her twice (yesterday and today) nicely explaining the situation and gave her the option of me cancelling the order/giving her immediate refund, or giving a partial refund of $40 and sending it. I haven't heard from her.
If I don't get a response from her by Tuesday will it harm my account if I take initiative and cancel it? I don't want to send it if she will turn around and file a SNAD, keep the item and then have eBay refund her. I also wouldn't feel right selling it to her at the price she paid. What would you do in my shoes? Thanks.

Since you are honest and do not want the buyer to pay the price they paid for considering the condition issue you missed and do not want to have a refund issue. You can cancel the sale take a defect for not completing the order then relist the item updating the listing and then message the buyer telling them you did not want to sell the item to them at the price you did apologize and give them the eBay is for the new listing. That way you do not have to worry about a return and a single defect will not really hurt you and after a while it will drop off of you metrics. That is better than a return and losing money on shipping and getting a worst defect.

You could try to get the buyers phone number and call them and leave a message if they do not answer. You could ask them in the message to respond on EBay as well after you talk to them. If you do not want to get that personal, let it sit for a bit and see if they message you back. If you cancel the order you will get a defect on your account for seller initiated cancellation. If you wait for the buyer to respond they may decide to cancel it and then you wont get a defect.

Is this the $90 earrings?
In what way did you misrepresent them?
I wouldn't be in too big a rush to cancel or partially refund - give the buyer until day-end tomorrow to get back to you with her decision. It's the weekend and some folks aren't home from the holidays or shopping adventures.

Well yes, they could send it with the buyer knowing that there was an error beforehand becuase they did leaves a message with the buyer. The buyer will then be expecting something not like in the listing and they can decide when they get it what they want to do. Probably a SNAD return, but maybe they might understand and then the seller can offer the partial refund and things might go ok.

Good way to begin the day, honest seller trying hard to make things right, and a nice buyer. The world is full of good people which is important to remember some days.
