Shoe scam?

I’m not new to buying on eBay but cleared out my shoe collection and sold some pairs.
My partner is American so some of my trainers are in American sizes. I sold a pair of trainers and the bidder took just under 3 days to pay. I sent them and around 3-4 days after he received them he messaged saying they weren’t a size 3 as per my advert but were a 5.5. I informed the buyer that a 5.5 is the American size and that they are in fact a Uk size 3 as advertised. 1 day later he messages again saying I’m wrong they are a 5.5uk and a us 6 which is completely wrong as that’s not how the sizing works. I messaged him asking for pictures of the label as I 150% checked this multiple times as did my partner when helping me list these
Me being new to this didn’t take pictures of the labels which has shot me in the foot I understand. I am asking for pictures of said label as I know this isn’t the case which he replied telling me to google a conversion chart. I have even sent him a link to the exact Nike website size guide which shows the sizing conversion for the exact same shoe. If they were the size he is claiming I wouldn’t of sold them as I only sold them due to them becoming too small.
The buyer hasn’t requested a refund or requested anything particular yet but I’m just not sure what to do. I feel as though if he was being honest he would just send a picture of the label instead as it would prove his argument. I am certain they are exactly as advertised. He will send me about 1 message every 24hrs so this has been going on for 4 days now. Any help is appreciated!

Re: Shoe scam?

Buyers are not obligated to send pictures or prove their point on eBay. Don't get into a back-and-forth with a buyer. Simply accept they are not happy and tell them to return for refund.

Re: Shoe scam?

@chasherwcharl  Have your buyer open a return case for the shoes - don't do anything unless this person opens the return - it's very obvious to the buyer how to do this, so if they will not, no refund.

Re: Shoe scam?

Thank you for that! No they haven’t at all. Should I just offer him one to solve the issue or just stop messaging the buyer back as we aren’t really getting anywhere?

Re: Shoe scam?

No do not refund without the buyer initiating it and returning shoes if that is what you want

You have already stated to the buyer what needs to be said, time to ignore

Re: Shoe scam?

According to conversion charts I've found a USA 5.5 is a UK 3.5.   I'd offer a return for refund, or just a refund.  (I wear USA 12 kicks, women's, so I'm used to checking size charts.)

Re: Shoe scam?

I go back and forth between both countries and buy shoes in both - I've seen both 2 sizes and 2.5 sizes differential, depending on the brand.   But the buyer seems to be changing his story anyway and now says 5.5 is a US 6.  I'd simply ask him to file to return the shoes for fit.

Re: Shoe scam?

As crazy as it may sound not all buyers have the ability to take and attach a picture and some don't know how. I do not see any sales under this account so unsure where the buyer was that purchased them. I would simply stand by and wait for the buyer to decide what they want to do. They will either open an eBay case, probably NAD,  or a chargeback with their CC company.

If and when they do simply accept the return and have the buyer return the shoes. Refund the buyer once you have the shoes back.
