I purchased some brand new shoes here on eBay. Approximately $135 for the pair.
Annoyingly, the shoes seems to have gone through some sort of authentication process. I don't know what all of this involves. I didn't ask for it and I didn't particularly voluntarily get into this situation. However eBay has forced me into this situation and now I'm pretty mad about it.
You see the shoes were sent to this service and sat in a warehouse where someone looked over the shoes and decided they were authentic or not. Then they were sitting somewhere in the warehouse after they've been authenticated and now they're just sitting there doing nothing. This has been days and days and days and days of me sitting here waiting for something that I paid well over $100 for. Who do you think would be happy to sit here and wait for a pair of shoes for an eternity I don't know but I can tell you I'm not too happy about it.
I could literally go to the store two blocks away and purchase a brand new pair of shoes even if they're just a little bit more it's more of a value to me to get the shoes brand new from the store and have the ability to return them right away if something is wrong with them. But now I am forced to sit here and not only wait for the shoes to arrive but if there's something wrong with the shoes that's a whole new set of problems.
So in fact I did actually go to the store and it actually I did buy a brand new pair of shoes that are actually genuine and authentic.
I don't have time to wait for eBay or any of their services to take their time and look over a shoe for two or three weeks or even a month.
Whoever came up with this idea and this process should be immediately fired.
Not only does this put a huge burden on buyers but also on the sellers. I'm sure many sellers are furious about this big failure.
Let's take a real good look at the situation here.
A person can easily go down the road and buy a brand new pair of shoes. Or a person can go to Amazon and buy a brand new pair of shoes. Either one of those two options would get the shoes here in a day or two.
If I were to buy the shoes or anybody else were to buy shoes here on eBay it would take weeks or more to get the shoes.
Now let's use a little bit of logic here. Who do you think's going to choose the local store or Amazon? I think most people would.
I'm going to let people know that this is unacceptable. And I want to let you all know that it's not just infuriating it's downright horrible to force people into this situation. Not only the buyers but the sellers. How atrocious of a service.
I want to make sure that eBay knows that there's no way I will ever be purchasing here again. I bought a few things and that's it. I will be ending my purchases on eBay for good and forever. Congratulations to the management and the chief operating officers. For making such a horrible decision about this authentication process I think you all need to be fired

See there you had the answer to your dilemma all along..................................

My thought exactly as I tiptoed through the tirade!
Sorry you've had a bad experience. Personally, I'd never buy shoes here and always buy at a brick and mortar. Godspeed.

There was a blue checkmark above the title listing you purchased, stating "Authenticity Guarantee," so by purchasing that item you did voluntarily ask for this process.
Now you know to avoid purchasing those listings.

Just my 2 cents. I think the OP actually brings up a valid point. eBay may be throwing the baby out with the bath water in cases where the inconvenience of authentication to the buyer outweighs whatever benefit it was supposed to give them.
Also I had no idea there was an AG requirement for an item as low-price as $135!! Is it possible that the seller just opted to pay for AG voluntarily? If I recall it's like $40 when you request it.

I agree it's been two weeks since I placed my order. This is not good for the sellers either; more will shy away from buying from them because of this.

I don't believe authentication for sneakers is required any more. But it's available for eligible shoes $75+.
