Shipping to Puerto Rico

Hello Everyone. I just had someone who lives in Puerto Rico buy an item. The item is supposed to ship via first class. The system does not give me the option to create a shipping label. I did notice that the buyer gave me a PO box as the address which I was guessing is the problem. Am I right?

Re: Shipping to Puerto Rico

I created and shipped a 1st class package to Puerto Rico a few days ago and had no issues. I do not see why the buyer having a P.O. Box would be a problem as it isn't an issue for P.O. Boxes in the 50 states?

Re: Shipping to Puerto Rico

@the1stknoell...I have been selling to buyers in PR and ("knock on wood") I have never had any issues (yet???)...

...I have shipped packages by First-Class to PR too...no problems at all...

Re: Shipping to Puerto Rico

I have shipped first class to Puerto Rico multiple times with no issue.  You can try printing the label on Paypal, eBay or USPS.com if you can't get a label to generate. Or you can wait awhile and try again. I have seen glitches several times when trying to generate a label on Paypal and waiting awhile resolves it.

Re: Shipping to Puerto Rico

Make sure that the address is to the STATE of Puerto Rico and not the COUNTRY.  It's a common error.

Re: Shipping to Puerto Rico

There is an ongoing mistake on the eBay shipping page that makes Puerto Rico into a separate nation.

It is a territory, almost a state like Hawai'i.

Post Office boxes are the safest addresses to ship to.

No porch pirates, and if the shipment won't fit into the box, the buyer has to show ID at the counter to claim his purchase.

You would be amazed at how many addresses that say "Unit 123" or #123 are not apartments but mailboxes of some sort. I've googled because I'm nosy and wonder where my customers live.

Apparently a lot of them live in strip malls or 19thcentury federal buildings.
