Shipping to Mexico

What are my options to ship to Mexico.

Everyone seems to agree that Ebay's Global Shipping is a rip off.  I've had two buyers use it out of about 600 shipments.

The current item in question is a 5 x 5 x 5 inch box with a total weight of 12 ounces.  It is fragile.

So are other options to ship this to Mexico?

thx

correction- on the site, they said there is tracking but no mention of signature confirmation.

I am in Mexico and when I get an IHerb order that is delivered by the MX post office I have to provide ID and sign even though the mailman knows me. He doesn't have too many 6' tall blond, blue eyed women on his route.
I always have to sign for Amazon's DHL orders.
Where do you people get your information? Is it whatever pops into your heads?

One woman I know has been waiting 4 months for 2 fruit cakes she ordered in December and when she drives to Texas, she is going to the bakery and demanding the cakes be replaced. I doubt they disappeared on the MX side. I don't think Mexicans eat fruit cake.

Neither does anybody else. Smiley Very Happy

It's not whether you signed for it or not, it's what eBay/PayPal will accept as Signature Confirmation. UPS/FEDEX (no DHL where I live) are very expensive at my volume & USPS doesn't offer international signature confirmation.

Re: Shipping to Mexico

I hear about how some people get this or that in 5 or 6 days to Mexico from the USA, but that NEVER happens for my shipments. I ship to Mexico every month via USPS first class international mail in 1-3oz envelopes that are 4"X8"X1". Over time, my success rate has been only 50-75%. In one month 3 out of 4 Mexico shipments did not arrive after 5 weeks. I do believe their customs is the problem as read above, since one of my customers was nice enough to reply and tell me he recieved his product after 3 MONTHS!! 99% of customers are not that patient however. I have 99.9% success rate with USPS in the USA and 100% in Canada. It's a shame that Mexico falls flat when working with logistics. To be honest, I am having problems with all of Latin America as far as shipping. My success rate is low enough that I am thinking of biting the bullet and not shipping anywhere south of the US border. I have problems with Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. Have always used USPS, but am figuring a way to charge customers in certain countries more and use a dedicated logistics service for their items. Hate to pass the cost on, but since USPS and the countries customs/postal can't get the job done, the customer is the one who is going to have to pay the price 😞

Re: Shipping to Mexico

Gotta suggestion for Mexico that may work but to make it work you need to note a 2015 news article that stated:

"In another test of its ambitions to be a global e-commerce powerhouse, Amazon is putting its stamp on Mexico. Its new e-commerce site, Amazon.com.mx, which launched June 30, will allow customers in the country to buy millions of physical items for delivery. Previously, the company only offered Kindle devices and e-books in Mexico."

With that in mind, here's my suggestion:

Try applying a little reverse-like engineering. Meaning, if Amazon is indeed now onboard with Mexico, I suggest visiting Amazon.mx in order to figure out how Amazon.mx is able to guarantee delivery of a physical item to a customer who lives in Mexico.

Good luck.

Re: Shipping to Mexico

I realize this is an old topic, but if you're ready to scrap Ebay Global Shipping because it's too expensive for the buyer, AND you think you can still ship to Mexico without a problem, you're fooling yourself. I've shipped three things to Mexico in the past year and all three have been lost. The first were both to Mexico through Ebay Global and were bounced at the border. Ebay Global totally protected both the buyer and me. The second was through Etsy - a packet of vintage kids stickers. It's been missing for a month in a sort facility. Fortunately I insured it through Shipsurance.
If you're going to offer international shipping on Ebay and still think you're going to be protected in a chargeback, better think again. Ebay Global will protect both you and the buyer.

NOT TO.  I'm less than 100 miles from the Mexican border and I wouldn't ship to Mexico.  Their postal system sucks and there is a lot of corruption in their government.
