Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

I am looking at my invoices from eBay. I notice how much the insertion fees and the final value fees for my sold items are, but I don't see how much eBay charged me for shipping fees (not actual shipping, but what eBay collects for itself). Shouldn't that also be shown on the invoice?

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

USPS shipping fees are taken at the time of purchase so they don't appear on eBay's invoice.  If you use paypal you'll need to use paypal reports to total up the USPS shipping costs.

There's also the Orders report on eBay but it only reports the most recent 90 days and most sellers don't know to download it every couple of months.

@vilkau   If you sort the invoice by the item number column it will group all the fees for each item.

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

The invoice totals the insertion fees and the final value fees but not the Final Value fees on shipping which I need for my tax filing.

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

How much you paid to ship items will not be on the invoice. If the buyer pays for shipping you will see a final value fee for the purchase price and for the shipping price. If the listing had free shipping there will only be a final value fee for the purchase price.

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

Am I not explaining myself correctly? When you ship something through eBay, eBay takes a cut from the shipping cost for itself. l am not sure what percentage.  They call it Final Value Fee on Shipping, which is in addition to the Final Value Fee. This is not listed on the invoice. How or where do I get the total of these fees for the year?

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

Not sure why you wouldn't see each FVF (for selling and for shipping) listed unless you have free shipping, they are usually listed chronologically in the invoice in the column labeled "fee type."  To get your total eBay fees for the year, just add up your 12 monthly invoices. You don't need to look at the details of each month's invoice.

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

I just printed invoices for each month of 2019. On the right side of each invoice there is "Insertion Fees" and "Final Value Fees". Where are the eBay fees on mailing? I can't find it on the invoices. I need totals for each month.

Your explanation is fine, reading comprehension here is sometimes poor.

Fees on shipping should show up on your invoice although it may be in a separate section and/or not in the same date order of the Item fvf.

Is there a reason you need these fees as a separate number from other eBay fees? For accounting purposes all you need is the total of all eBay fees.

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

If the buyer paid for shipping, the FVF will be on your invoice.

If you need to know how much you spent on shipping, you'll find it on Pay Pal.

Have a great day.

On your invoice, there will be a FVF for the item and a FVF for shipping, if buyer paid shipping.

Are you sure you're not looking at the "Promotional savings" box?  At the very bottom of the page there should be a summary of all of your fees and credits.  It doesn't separate out regular FVF from shipping FVF because there's no reason to, either from eBay's perspective or that of the IRS.

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

Because the invoice lists totals for insertion fees and final value fees, but does not show a total for the fees eBay takes out from the shipping cost.

Re: Shipping fees not showing on invoice?

eBay does not break the two different final values into 2 separate totals. If you scroll down to the section that says transaction fee's. Since you are not selling items with free shipping, there will be 2 fee's listed for each item sold. 1 will say final value fee which is for the purchase price. The 2nd will say final value fee for shipping. To get the total for both you would need to go through and enter the final value fee for shipping into a calculator. Then when you have the total you can go back up to the top of the invoice and subtract the total for shipping from the final value fee total. The remainder would give you  the total for final value fee's for the purchase price .
