I've uploaded 200 items through Turbo Lister to adjust my shipping to "Calculated". I just sold an item weighing 8 ounces, with a shipping cost to me of $3.28, yet Ebay only charged the customer $2.65. I checked both Turbo Lister and Ebay edit and everything says 8 ounces. Is this an Ebay error, or am I missing something?

The eBay gremlins have been messing with the shipping calculator settings in many sellers' listings. The prices quoted above are for First Class flats (AKA Large envelopes).
If the shipping calculator menu for "Package type" is set to "Large envelope" rather than to "Package/thick envelope," then that's what will be calculated, even if the seller has chosen "First Class package" from the menu for Service type. Rather than waiting for eBay to notice this and fix it, sellers should just correct their "Package type" settings.

If the seller chooses "First Class package" in the menu for Service, but chooses "Large envelope" in the menu for "Package type" (or if the eBay gremlins choose it for him), then the buyer will be charged the postage cost for a flat (AKA Large envelope) even though the service type shown in the listing is FC package.

Thanks for the info - that's good to know. I just had to go through and change about 100 listings.
Nevertheless, I have to wonder, if this is a known issue, what the heck is ebay doing? This is either a pure rip-off or pure incompetence. Neither inspires confidence. They went out of their way to tell us to be sure our listings are accurate for the new USPS rates, and I did, and it apparently COST me money instead of saving it.
Thanks again for the response.

This problem appeared after the new USPS rates went into effect on January 27. It's most common among sellers who switched from flat rate to calculated shipping for First Class packages. I suspect that many of them just didn't pay attention to the "Package type" selection when setting up calculated shipping. After all, "First Class Package" service shows up in the listing regardless of which package type is selected so it's easy to overlook.
This is a 'known issue" on the discussion help boards, but that doesn't mean that eBay knows about it, or if they do know about it perhaps they don't accept that it is their problem to solve. You could try reporting it on the "Technical issues" discussion board.

It's user error, not ebay that's choosing the incorrect package type. They have both as a choice as some do mail with letter rate.
