Shipcover insurance

It appears there is a glitch in eBay's insurance coverage program.

I've shipped several items lately and USPS is the only insurance available because Shipcover does not provide coverage to the country.  All of the items went to the US.  I guess I was unaware that California, Washington, and North Carolina were foreign countries.

Ebay needs to address the issue - this has been going on for several months.

I don't know about North Carolina, however California and Washington are in some, if not many ways, foreign countries.

Shipcover insurance

Under my seller ID I've shipped 8,000 small parcels over the last 15 years and have received 4,000 packages from ebay sellers.    I can count on one hand the number of times something got misplaced in a sort center or disappeared then reappeared two weeks later.  I've never ever had to file a claim on insurance.  Maybe I'm lucky, and while I routinely insure things valued at more than $200  I wouldn't waste any money insuring something worth less than $100.  I believe UPS, and priority mail from USPS, typically include 'free'  insurance for $100 in the basic shipping charge.

I've never given any serious consieration to using 'shipcover'  to save a few pennies.  If you actually needed to file a claim do you think it would be easier or reimburse you faster than USPS/UPS insurance?

Since you have never had to file an insurance claim, you have wasted a lot of money.

That is your right to buy insurance if you choose to.

To each his own.

A RESOUNDING NO!

I see you've made quite a few purchases over the years, how many times over the years have you not recieved a domestic package or recieved a damaged one? I don't know how many sales you've made but how many insurance claims have you made? If you don't know the pain that you may need to endure filing an insurance claim with USPS or UPS then you have either been very lucky or wasted a lot of money on insurance.

The old adage...."Insurance is a suckers bet"

Wikipedia "suckers bet": The name originates in that sucker bets are often created to lure inexperienced players into betting against large odds, blinded by the offer of "fast money"

In addition, ShipCover feature in Ebay does not work. I tried to make a claim today using Ebay system under shipping labels page. It took me through all the steps, but after clicking finish, I received an error. I called customer service and they tried to tell me I would have to call Interstate Fire and Casualty myself, which I did with the number she provided. Wrong number. Also, customer service gal tried to tell me to make a claim with USPS first, but I kept telling her...no, I could not do that because I sent the shipment ground. Then she argues the fact...I  believe I had to tell her no 5 times and finally requested her manager which gave me the wrong number.  I now have to haggle with them again next week to get this resolved.
