Ship from zip code

Am I missing something? On the new (ugly) shipping label page I can’t find a way to change the ship from zip code and city. If I were to ship from my city it would mean a 40 minute round trip as I am at the very southern edge of my city. If I ship from the nearest P.O. it is a different city/zip and is approx an 18 minute round trip. I carped about this to eBay but no response. What am I overlooking?

Ship from zip code

On the single label page, there is an edit link below your "Ship from / Return to" address.

On the multiple label page, there is an edit link on the left side below your zip code ... click that and you can select another address you have stored.

I believe either post office will take the package.  Shouldn't your city and zip code match the rest of your return address?

Not necessarily no.   I used to live 35 miles away from where I shipped.  My inventory was located at my home, and that was also my return address.  But I worked 35 miles away, and took my parcels to the city post office to mail during my lunch hour.  I used the zip code of the city post office on the print label form.

But it also matters when you're mailing from a different zone where the postage is different than from your return address.  For example, if you go on vacation and have to take some still unpaid for items with you.  When the buyers pay, they'll pay for shipping from where you put your item location as in the listing.  But if you're now say 1200 miles away when you go to ship, and you have access to a printer, you need to make sure you pay the correct postage - which is now less for the person who is now closer to you, and more for the person who is back in your home state.  In that situation, it matters that the ship from zip code is correct.

No. New postal regulations require that the ship from zipcode be that of the accepting/entry facility, and the "ship from" has nothing to do with the return address as far as USPS is concerned.

That is part of what the coding of the new eBay label form addresses (USPS appears to be grandfathering APIS/flows like the classic label flow that don't meet the new requirements, and allowing labels to be generated, but that could end at some point. I suspect all venues and PC Postage providers will at some point be requierd to and wil be updating their interfaces a,d APIS)
