I am getting older, I admit, but I do not recall ever having been asked to ship on a Saturday.
(I do ship same day / within 24 hours, and will ship today.)
Is this something new, or am I just not remembering an established eBay policy notification?

what is your handing time setting?
My setting is 2 days. If I receive a payment say late Thursday or early Friday, the order details will usually say ship by Tuesday due to the weekend and maybe payment bank processing time.

Understood... I ship Saturdays, have for a long time. My cutoff time is 9 am.
What is new here is the notification, nothing more.

I ship same day / 24 hours.
All that is new is the notification, which I have never before received. I should have made that crystal clear in my original post.

As others mentioned @fbusoni , you will not see a notice to ship on Saturday unless you have it checked as a working day on this page: https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf/cutoff

Just found this working hours page recently too, this is necessary bc my local P.O. does not ship out on Sat, the packages just sit there (a bit pointless). I don't know if this is specific to each one or everywhere.

Hopefully he'll check that page, but I think the disconnect here is that in all his memory he never got a prompt from eBay to ship on Saturday -only a personal willingness to do it. I do the same thing, not every time but usually; I like the flexibility of either exceeding the buyer's expectation or indulging my lazy side.
But here's what I think the key point is: he would have had to CHANGE his availability page to include Saturday, to be seeing a Saturday prompt, right? Seems like he would remember doing that, especially if it was jsut recently. Am I getting that right @fbusoni ?

I have my store set for 3 days. That means I have until Wednesday to ship everything that sold over the weekend. That's good for me because as of now I have 40 items sold. I often will get it out by end of day on Monday, but no pressure. In fact right now I'm at my daughter's house and will get home late on Monday. I will ship on Tuesday. I have a life!
For everything sold late week through Saturday before noon, I try to ship before the post office closes on Saturday. That means people will receive the items before I'm actually supposed to ship them! And that's good for feedback!
There is absolutely no benefit to me to offer same day shipping. I don't see it on the listings, nor do I believe it would enhance my sales.

Yes, you are correct.
I have had Saturday checked forever, along with Monday through Friday.
And I have received scores, if not hundreds, of orders over the years between the hours of 1 PM Friday (my cut off time for Friday) and 9 am Saturday (my cut off time for Saturday).
But this is the first time I have ever received a notification that I needed to ship on a Saturday. That is what is different.
@valueaddedresource wrote a month or two ago that eBay had appointed a new head of communications.
So perhaps she got around to finally instructing eBay's programmers to send out a Saturday notification?
It seems that no one else commenting thus far recalls ever seeing a notification to ship on a Saturday.
Again, the notification is what is different. I have shipped on Saturdays forever and have obligated myself to do so, also forever, because my post office is open from 9 am to 2 pm.

@fbusoni not sure why you wouldn't have been seeing that notification if you had Saturday checked as a shipping day all this time.
The company I worked for from 2018-2021 did enough volume across Amazon, multiple direct sites, and eBay to have the warehouse run 6 days a week and I always saw that notification on orders in that eBay account that needed to ship on Saturdays based on the cut off times they had set on that page.
As far as I know, nothing has changed about how that is supposed to work in the last few years but it's always possible there was something unannounced or a glitch.

Okay I actually did misunderstand one little part -I thought you didn't have Saturday checked for availability, that you were just opting to ship "early" whenever you got Saturday orders.
But I am 100% clear now, ha.

Yes, the omnipresent "glitch."
Thanks for sharing your experiences. regards

You are at your daughter's house, yet posting on the eBay seller forum.

Yes, I need to craft my initial posts with greater care and far more specificity. Thanks for inquiring.

Thanks, yes, I am very familiar with that page, thank you, and for as long as I can remember have had my setting to ship 6 days a week. My post office is open Saturday from 9 to 2, and buyers love ordering something on a Friday night / Saturday morning and having it shipped Saturday. And I'm glad to do it.
All that is new here is the notification I received.

Yeah, I caught in your first post that the notification was new, but nowhere (before I posted) did you specify you had Saturday set as a working day. You said you usually shipped Saturdays, but didn't mention whether that was part of your account settings. Most of us got the impression your settings page was recently changed.
It's odd you never saw a ship by Saturday indicator because, as Liz said, you should have been seeing the ship by Saturday notice all along. There was even an eBay announcement - wanna say Dec 2020-ish - where eBay said they'd be factoring in weekend handling days to delivery estimates.
People come here all the time asking why they have to ship on Saturday or Sunday and it's always tied to that setting. Point being, others have been seeing ship by Sat/Sun for years when checked as a working day in their settings.
So the question isn't why are you suddenly seeing ship by Saturday - the question is why were you not seeing that all along if you always had Saturday set as a working day? I don't have an answer to that.
