(This is a posting ID). I have a 2 day handling time. Why is it that items purchased today (Friday 12/27/19) being shipped USPS First Class (from ND to NJ) show a ship by date of 2 business days (Tuesday 12/31/19) and when I check the Order Details for the transaction, the Estimated Delivery date is also Tuesday 12/31/19. So according to Ebay's dates, the day I ship the item it is already late. Also, I only ship via First Class and Priority Mail, and all my listings show an Estimated Delivery date of "on or before 1/3/20" (7 days) to both my zip code and also zip codes across the country.

I have 3 day handling to cover myself in case of unexpected appointments/power outages/internet outages, but generally ship same day/next day. eBay will go by your "historical" shipping time, and ignore your actual handling time if you typically ship quickly no matter what your handling time says.
My "ship by" dates are currently showing 2 week or more out, with estimated date shown to the buyer much earlier than that.
Why??? anybody's guess, but apparently eBay IT coding.

Mathematically I bet there is a reason, but I am not mathematically inclined.
Maybe it means that if this weren't a 2 weeks full of holidays, it would arrive by the 31st. I have seen estimated delivery dateds that account for a holiday slowdown.
If it doesn't go against your own personal seller policies, change your handling time by one day later. Buyers seem to assume that "shipping was very fast" when an item arrives before its anticipated arrival date.
OR Just get the items shipped ASAP and hope for the best.
