So now sellers are responsible for lost or stolen packages or USPS boo boos?!? I think our customers here are getting an Amazon mentality about everything. Thanks so much Amazon. Angry customer opened a case; I provided tracking showing the item was delivered and she escalates the case with this response:
The tracking does show the item was delivered. It just was not delivered to my house. I was home all day, getting ready for my garage sale the next day. I don t know if the address was incorrect, the post delivered it to the wrong home, or if it was stolen. I did receive ail that day-just no ring.
Need I say BBL?

Seller protection on INR is now BETTER than it used to be. Ebay used to find for the buyer in the old days when tracking shows delivered. Now they find for the seller.
Knowing how often MY packages end up elsewhere, I don't really have a problem with Ebay refunding buyers. As long as they're tracking those refunds to find repeat issues.

If you provide tracking info into the case showing it was delivered you should win the case. The buyer needs to call USPS and have them do a GPS search for their package. No you are not responsible.

I am assuming here you shipped to the verified address on their account. If so, again, you are not responsible.

You need to reach out to your buyer offer to send a free replacement or help them work with their local law enforcement and or local postmaster to help solve what happened to their missing package according to the ebay service reps....

A couple of memorable "shake my head" moments:
1. Today a buyer purchased an item at 1:42pm. Four minutes later, at 1:46pm he messaged me, asking why it hasn't shipped yet.
2. A buyer once claimed his package was stolen from his mailbox -- even captured on security camera footage. He showed me the video, and asked if I could send him a free replacement ($100 item).

So what does this mean?

See what I mean? They think we're Amazon.

That means ebay refunded out of their own pocket and the buyer will return another day to try for another drink from the well of another seller.

-----------
Send him a video of a pickpocket stealing money from your wallet
and ask him to resubmit another payment.

Actually, I think it's supposed to be "...send a free replacement and a full refund..."

Didn't you mean to say: "I am assuming here you shipped to the address on the PayPal payment?"
If the verified address (whatever you mean by that...?) on their account is different form the address on the PayPal payment, the seller would absolutely be responsible.

eBay Customer Support has refunded the buyer. We're issuing the buyer a refund for this case. You don't need to do anything else. This case won't be included when we evaluate seller performance. Note: It may take up to 24 hours to update in your Seller Dashboard.Final decision:
You were not found at fault.Transaction summary:
Any remaining funds from this transaction are available
That means the buyer was so annoying the rep gave them a refund to shut them up.

So you were not held responsible and are just complaining that a customer dared to complain about not receiving his item.

I'm seeing red flags all over the place. Is the last protection for sellers INR on its way out too?

Yes, especially for those "fast tracked test/pilot program cases, you will be required to reach out and respond to your buyer.:(
Personally I would add the tracking to the case call ebay and have the CSR close it in my favor while I am on the phone.
Then I would tell the buyer to contact their PO, with the tracking number.
