Sewing Patterns list as New or Used?

I am clearing out my personal stash of sewing patterns.   They have never been used.  They are uncut factory folded.

How would I list these.  Used or New or is there another description to be used.

I sew, and I'd consider those "new". If you state "used," it implies that the pattern pieces have been cut out.

NOS (new old stock) and put uncut & factory folded in description

Re: Sewing Patterns list as New or Used?

I always list uncut patterns as "new" but mention that the envelope may have wear in the body of the listing.  It would be useful if the listing form eliminated new/used for cut/uncut for sewing patterns though.

Re: Sewing Patterns list as New or Used?

Uncut sewing patterns are New.
Cut sewing patterns are Used.

My selling ID is also trying to clear out her stash of "old" sewing patterns.
I sold one pattern that I had no memory of making into a garment.  Imagine my surprise when the buyer complained that the pattern was not brand new!   I am not suggesting you are as memory-challenged as I am/was, but it can't hurt to take the folded up patterns out of the envelope just to double check.  You might also find any other damage such as mildew or stains or deterioration.

A couple things for your attention:  I encourage you to be careful with some of the item specifics.  As a buyer, I find it annoying to be looking for, say, Butterick Women's Plus Sizes separates patterns, and see Simplicity children's Halloween costume patterns.  The other is photographs.  You can add 24 photos to each listing.  Take good clear photos of the finished garment measurements, notions (buttons?  zipper?), and fabric requirements on the back of the envelopes.

Best of luck !!

Wouldn't "Uncut" cover it? It cannot have been used if it's still factory folded, right?

And you could mention that in your description.

Re: Sewing Patterns list as New or Used?

I know absolutely nothing about sewing patterns.

I would think if they were in the exact same condition as if you were buying it from a store ... new.

Re: Sewing Patterns list as New or Used?

I list vintage (older) items as "Used," because they are not technically RETAIL NEW. I would put Unused Uncut NOS in the title. I would describe the item as, "Previously owned but unused and uncut." I would say that, "the packaging has light signs of wear such as smudges and dimpled corners. See pictures." I would take a minimum of 4 pictures. Front/ back packaging. Front/ back factory folded pattern. Pictures don't lie and buyers trust what they see. Ask "new" prices. Buyers will understand why you called them used and you will avoid the buyers who use discrepancies in the listing to file an INAD and force a return. I sell a lot of collectibles where the condition of the packaging matters. I sell older collectible needlepoint kits that people use and packaging is less critical. I don't try to out guess every collector. I just try to fairly represent each item and all usually goes well.

Also sew, and same. Someone looking for a new pattern wants one that has never been cut.

I'd go with "pre owned" and then add any description that will help, like sealed, unopened, uncut, etc. to help the buyer know what they are getting.

Technically they aren't used because you didnt use them, but they're not really what I'd call "new" either. I would go with "pre owned" to say "not used, but someone else owned them previously".
