Stay safe to all those in its path.

My husband and I are going to remove all the deck and outside furniture.

Severe storms later today

I'm a storm junkie. Was looking forward to storms yesterday here in my part of flyover country, but got skunked. I'll virtual chase if the opportunity exists...lol.

Last year we lost a cheap grill that got blown off the deck into the driveway. The new one has been tipped over, but survived. Hubby now moves it when I ask him to...lol.

Stay safe!

That's the exact same forecast as yesterday's and we were in a restaurant with daughter, son-in-law and twin terrors when the tornado warning was issued.  Have to admit it was kind of funny when everyone's phones - probably 20 people in the restaurant - started shrieking the warnings at the same time.

Got dark as night and rained sideways but no hail and no tornado.  As I told everyone, green or yellow sky is bad but black clouds not so much.  I did teach the twin terrors how to count lightning to thunder ratio; problem is they don't have a clue what a mile is.

No damage to daughter's house/yard or ours 20 miles away (hit our area before hers).  A bit of flooding in the streets on the drive home.   A second cell went through a couple hours later and my husband said there was another one in the middle of the night - I slept through that.  The giant cat runs under the closest bed at the first rumble of thunder so I'm sure he was not happy with us while he was home alone.

We don't have anything of much value outside in the open; if it looks like something is going to come through the screens on the porch I'll get that Woodard Sculptura furniture out of there fast.

Edit:  Yes, we are in the path again today.

Severe storms later today

I haven't really been watching SPC lately, but there is this:

 Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1113 AM CDT Tue May 15 2018

   Valid 151630Z - 161200Z

...THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS NORTHEAST
   PA...FAR NORTHERN NJ...SOUTHERN NY...NORTHWEST CT...SOUTHWEST MA...

...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS SOUTHERN HIGH
   PLAINS...

   ...SUMMARY...
Widespread damaging winds, a few tornadoes, and scattered large hail
is expected across parts of the Northeast States this afternoon into
   early evening.

   ...Northeast States...
Convective evolution will be tied to an MCV and small convective
cluster currently ongoing near the OH/PA border. Robust diabatic
heating is underway ahead of this feature with trailing outflow from
a lead convective cluster currently crossing the Hudson Valley. 12Z
Pittsburgh sounding sampled a favorable environment for
destabilization with an EML yielding steep mid-level lapse rates.
Warm-sector buoyancy of 1000-2000 J/kg will become common by peak
heating. This sounding also sampled the southern periphery of strong
700-500 mb winds. As the OH/PA cluster evolves east and becomes
surface-based, convection will organize into a fast-moving QLCS with
embedded bowing structures given the strong mid-level westerlies
nearly orthogonal to the line. Widespread strong to scattered severe
wind gusts appear likely which may yield a derecho, and thus
damaging wind coverage probabilities have been increased this
outlook. A few cells should form ahead of the developing QLCS, most
likely across parts of southern NY/Hudson Valley vicinity into
western New England. Supercell wind profiles will support a tornado
and large hail risk maximized across this region, with this activity
becoming absorbed within the broader QLCS. The severe threat will
quickly wane near the Atlantic Coast once the QLCS impinges on the
   stable marine layer.

Moderate is pretty high for that area this time of year.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Severe storms later today

We just had a bad one come through here in N.E. PA.

The wind was so intense that it ripped our rain gutters right

off of the back of the house. Took some shingles with it.

Lots of trees & limbs down everywhere, roads closed, etc,

We got the tornado warning too, but I don't know of any here..

It hit quick and hard here in NJ. There is talks of tornado touching down in upstate NY which is so uncommon.

Update:

Rumbles of far away thunder, intermittent.  Dark clouds blowing by but not tightly massed together yet.  Temperature drop only 10 degrees so far, in the last few minutes.

Giant cat said oh noes ! and gave up chasing bugs on the porch ( it's really life or death in his cat brain if he gives up chasing bugs) and just pitifully slunk in here.  He's now under the chair in the corner, approximately 4' away from me.
