Did you mean:

Separating a Lot

I have a lot of two items for sale and I received an offer for one. I don't mind selling just the one. What would be the best way to go about it? Reply with an offer for the one and relist the other? End the listing and list separately? Any advice would be grateful.

Thank you.

Re: Separating a Lot

Did she make a formal offer as in MAKE OFFER?   You can't revise a listing while there's a pending offer.

A.  If she didn't make a MAKE OFFER type offer, but just sent a message, I would revise the existing listing to remove all references to the unwanted item - title, pictures, description, Item Specifics, adjust the price and s/h .  Then let the buyer know that the listing has been revised to just the item she wants and invite her to purchase it..

Then create a new listing for the item you edited out of the original listing.

B.  If there's a pending OFFER, I'd end the listing, create 2 new listings and let the buyer know the new listing number of the item she was interested in.

Technically you could just decline the formal offer, but even when you're trying to accommodate a buyer, they can get their hackles up when they see the word DECLINED in a message.  By ending the listing, she'll just get a message saying the item is no longer available.

Either way, be quick with your REPLY to the buyer so she doesn't go up in smoke over the changes/activities you do behind the scenes.

Re: Separating a Lot

We have another thread on here where the buyer and seller supposedly agreed to different terms outside the original listing but there was apparent confusion afterwards.

If it were me, I would end the listings early and set them up as separate listings.

Re: Separating a Lot

@city*satins- Thank you for your response. It is actually a question, not an offer (my mistake). I will take your advice and revise the listing for just the one and let the buyer know. If they don't purchase, i'll just leave it as is.

@emerald40- Thank you for the reply. You're right in that I don't want confusion or headaches. I am going to revise with just the one.
