Selling with multiple shipping options

I have always advertised multiple shipping options to my listings, but now have added FedEx Ground to a majority of them due to the crazy new USPS DIM charges. In my experience buyers usually pay for the first one listed regardless if it is more expensive or slower service listed because they don't realize there are multiple options. Why does eBay not sort the shipping prices to reflect the lowest cost for the buyer? Example, I have items that now cost $50.00 (approx) to ship from NY to CA via USPS, but are only $23.00 via FedEx. For my buyers to see this when searching listings, I need to list FedEx as the first option. My problem is, if it's selling to someone in a zone near me, FedEx is still listed first although now USPS is sometimes cheaper. I always prefer USPS if it's within $5.00 or less of FedEx as I can utilize free pickups vs FedEx 15 mile round trip drop off.

i`am just guessing it`s because Ebay is going to charge you a shipping fee and needs to know what the cost is going to be?

Ebay charges a seller  fvf on the amount of shipping a buyer pays, regardless of which option was first.

I know that others have suggested that option as well. I’m not a programmer so have no idea if that would be hard to do but if it isn’t possible, they should show all options at time of checkout.

A little while ago some sellers reported that in the shipping tab eBay was showing only ‘the option that eBay thought was best for the buyer’ even when a seller specified multiple options.  I don’t think that is a good solution either.

If there is more than one shipping option to pick from, eBay gave themselves the

authority to cherry pick and (hide) a sellers shipping options to each individual buyer

as they see fit. You can pick all the options you want but nobody can tell you which

ones eBay will hide and not show the buyer or when they do it.

And they want the higher fee that comes with higher shipping costs.

Years ago they took out the 'More shipping options available' line under the shipping in the top, so now you don't know if a seller offers other options unless you click on the shipping tab.

To me it would be a no brainer to clearly show all the choices. I would think it would drive sales if there ended up being cheaper options. There are many variables in shipping to different zones among all the carriers, what might be most affordable locally, won't be across the country.
