I really want to complain about eBay for sellers! eBay keeps changing format & telling you how to sell due to filters. I have been on here a long time buying & selling. I had one person buy a pair a levi's & complained the used pair I sold her didn't fit her the same way as in the stores, duh! I would not give refund. eBayer paid her so she got free jeans plus money & you can't leave a negative report to warn other eBay sellers!! I also recently was looking for a shirt to wear with some pants & all that came up were commercial sellers!! It took me going through 20 pages before find a few that were by individuals. That's sad! I am seriously thinking about quitting eBay! The last 2 things I ordered from eBay came from Amazon. I am going through them next time, cut out the middle man.

So you sold an item that your customer didn't like because it didn't fit.
If you bought something that didn't fit wouldn't YOU want to return it?
As a seller your #1 job is to make your customer happy, everything else is secondary. . .

Clothing sellers do have more returns (because of fit issues), and having no returns in a high return category is risky. A determined buyer could file a SNAD claim which puts the seller in a bind, having to pay return shipping and on the hook for a full refund including original shipping costs. In today's ebay, a seller is better off with a return policy that gives him some semblance of control at least, with the buyer paying return shipping and possibly a restocking fee. Also, Ebay gives preference to sellers with returns including better placement in Search. It's just good customer service and fosters repeat business. The customer stuck with a non-wearable item won't be back, and plenty of ebayers hit the Back button when they see No Returns. With a saturated category like Clothing, every little bit of advantage helps the bottom line. JMTC, FWIW

This is not the old eBay... one has to evolve or find something else, somewhere else. Look around this site and every major retailer seems to be selling. With jeans, Levi's, Wranglers, etc., there is definately a size AND quality difference with retailers.
Personally, I have never bought any type of clothing on eBay or from seller's website that actually fit by size and that includes from major retailers such as Wilson leather. I have given everything away, which is ok, but I would hate to try to make a living buying clothes at 2nd hand stores, yard sales, etc., that have a large return issue with even major retailers.
Unless you can mark clothes up a 1000% or more as retailers have to for overhead and returns (with many going out of business) and 'cheerfully' accept returns as they do, you might find something else to sell.
That said, if buyer wants to return and offers to pay shipping both ways, take it. If they balk and offer to return and pay return shipping, take it. If they open a claim and have not yet left feedback, pay them and case closed, they cannot leave feedback. Yes, the shipping and/or your purchase price is a loss, but the price of doing business.
BTW, you mentioned buying on eBay that was from somewhere else... that is affiliate marketing that maybe you should try. You handle nothing and they take care of returns... 🙂
