Hi,
Is this the same for everyone? Selling for me on eBay has been absolutely horrible.
1) I have relisted the same item 3 times because people with zero feedback bid and never pay
2) I have relisted items because people claim their kid bid, they bid by mistake etc...
3) Fraud, even from people with good feedback. I sold a gift card, they claimed it was used (there is no way it was) and now I'm out $50.
Like **bleep**, and ontop of this both eBay and paypal take a combined fee exceeding 10% of the sale?

You might want to list it as a fixed price listing instead of an auction. With a fixed price listings you can use instant payment required which will leave your item available to all buyers until one of them pays for it.
Good Luck Selling!

I do not have any suggestions for the gift cards, as I have never bought or sold one but I understand the problem you described.
Good Luck selling!

Are you filing non payment so you can get your fees back?

I wish it was a combined 10% of fees. EBay charges a fee on the shipping cost also. Let's say your shipping cost is $3 (after you purchase a label , tracking ,packing materials and whatnot) then you pay 27 cents in fees just from that. $.27 may not sound like much but if you only sold a $1 item any cost you three dollars to ship it then you pay 27% in fees for that sale just on the shipping.
If your item was $10 and the shipping was $3 then you paid 2.7% in fees on your item just because of the shipping.
Of course the higher the dollar amount of your sale the less other percentage in fees on that sale come from shipping. A lot of people don't realize this happens.
(Hopefully very few people are selling one dollar items)
And then PayPal takes $.35 per transaction (I think that was the amount) and then 2.7% on top of that for the toll transaction. And yes of course that 2.7% is charged on the shipping cost also (I hope no one thinks free shipping is free)
The total amount you're paying fees varies depending on your shipping costs. Even if you're using free shipping you are still paying for shipping and the amount you're expecting the pay is worked into your sales price somehow so it works out to be the same thing.
When I want to know what my prospective fees are I take my sales price Plus my shipping price and calculate 13% (which is still a little on the low side). I subtract 13% from the total of my estimated sale price plus my estimated shipping and then subtract the cost of goods sold and I have a good idea of what my profit is.
you said exceeding 10% fees but I figured I was throw in those calculations for anyone who actually thinks the fees are 10%.

Ebay is tough. I am sure there were the same problems the whole time Ebay has been in existence but the difference is that more items sold on smaller inventories way back when. There weren't any stores or immediate payment on FP listings (where there even any FP? I only ran auctions). I guess many sellers are still succeeding; I operate on the low end of "worth it?" But I don't count on ebay for being my bread and butter.

Use Immediate payment required. They either PAY when they "buy" or the listing stays running so others can find it and buy. And yeah electronics bring out serious trolls and scammers.

OP as ann said - you have little feedback and are selling items that scammers look for especially from newer sellers. I don't have as many problems with no payment but I file an unpaid item dispute and if the item isn't paid for - recoup my selling fees.
You're not out anything from Paypal unless a buyer pays and they want to then cancel wherein you have to refund their money. You lose the 30 cents transaction fee.
