So frustrated with eBay's guidelines, trying to sell 3 replica pistols. Admittedly, the first time I listed them, I hadn't read the guidelines and didn't include the correct wording, “This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug.”
So I ordered orange plugs (sold on eBay for gun markings), put them in and relisted them. Only to be cancelled again. SO I glued them in, mentioned the gluing in the description, to make them permanent, and relisted them, only to receive a final notice or my account would be suspended
My question is... how do you make a plug permanent, that they will accept, and how come when you look at other replicas for sale, not only are some with no markings at all, others have removable ones, which you can see when, they take them out to take a photo down the barrel?
Not that I ever will be relisting them ever again, but why the inconsistency, and how do you make the markings permanent and accepted?

Also, once an item is flagged and removed, never try listing it again. It is on the radar and will remain there. If you persist, you will be escorted to the exit.

I may be wrong but I think the replica has to come with the orange tip already installed.
If you mentioned in the listing that you glued one on just to comply, that may be the reason.
Not sure, just guessing.

If you use a brand name in your listings for the replicas, you should be careful that you are not violating someone else’s trademark.

I sell quite a few of these along with actual firearms but would never list them on eBay to begin with. Simply too much scrutiny and there are a lot of other venues to move these items on. In fact there are a LOT of items I simply never list on eBay due to the ever expanding restricted items list as well as the VERO program. I go to other sites and venues where I don't have to worry about either.

In response to this post, and by extension all other posts complaining about how eBay won’t let them sell this or that:
Simply accept that some things will be more of a headache then they are worth.
Several years ago I had a ton of Confederate States memorabilia. eBay pulled the plug. Instead of complaining I simply moved them over to my personal web site and they have been selling quite nicely.
Recognize that this is eBay’s sandbox and there is an immovable Orc guarding the entrance.

With so many listings, eBay lets some restricted items fall thru the cracks. But once on the eBay radar, it is too risky to relist a pulled item. eBay has rarely been consistent in the application of its rules.

I served a 3 day suspension for relisting a pair of tiny cap pistols that were still sealed in the package. The entire gun was about 1 1/2". The ad was closed. I thought it was a mistake. I retyped the ad and restarted it. Ebay closed it again and gave me a 3 day holiday. So try and sell them elsewhere or throw them out. Wrap them in newspaper and put them in a plastic bag and sealed the bag to make sure some kid doesn't get it. (Just incase they do look like a real gun.)
Like someone stated, some things can't be sold here. Oh, can't list them on Craigslist either.

In my humble opinion. It is not worth even trying to list anything that looks like a weapon.
Any type....
If you manage to create a listing that eBay will accept. Folks that have a problem with weapons will constantly report the listing. Even airpop cork guns.
It is more headache than it is worth.
Thank you for being here!

" how do you make a plug permanent" That is the problem. Just how permanent is plastic attached to plastic? It's a lose lose deal on eBay. As advised, never relist. Home glued jobs don't meet their requirement. Some of the old ones are worth a lot of money and would be ruined by such action anyway. Just have to find another venue to sell them in.

Can you please list some of these better sites you were describing? I would very much like to not have to buy anything off of eBay if I could help it.

This is almost a year old thread. Referring people to other sites violates this forum's rules of engagement. If you want to find out about other sites selling what ever it is that you sell, google it. Lots of good help there.
Good luck to you
