I am selling a collection of 20+ vintage sneakers and would like to do it in one listing. I am tired of listing everything individually for most things to get 1 or 2 views and it takes forever.
Can I list let's say 20 shoes in one listing and write in the comments something like "Contact me to work out a deal on any individual pair" and then I can set up a buy it now for that specific shoe? This seems like the most practical approach Or does this go against eBay's endless policy restrictions?
Any other suggestions, I could also list all the shoes as a variation I suppose but again this requires a TON of work with no guarantee of a sale. Thanks.

Not sure of ebay policy, but I would not put it in the listing. People who really want one certain pair will message you.
Keep in mind, if you do that, it may dilute the lot of 20 by taking out the more desirable pairs. And if you do sell off individual pairs, you need to retake the photo of the lot without them. That could easily be an SNAD if you leave them in the photo.

It is against policy to make one listing and ask buyers to let you know which one they want.

I would STRONGLY advise you NOT TO DO THIS! Unless you are prepared to give all 20 pairs away and refund buyers money!

Just do the multi-variant. Yes, it's a lot of work, but that's the right way to do it.

Just to clarify. It's OK to sell a lot. There is a shoe category for lots. Wholesale, Large & Small Lots > Just don't put it in the listing that you would sell separately.

You might get a dealer to buy the lot if they are all different sizes & styles, but not an individual buyer.
I agree you cannot build in a choice to the listing in this way.
As a seller, I would be hesitant to do a group lot; someone may buy them, take out the pair(s) they want and send the rest back as SNADs.

""Contact me to work out a deal on any individual pair""
words like that in an ebay listing will get you a vacation from the bot thinking you are trying to do an off ebay deal.

only 20 pairs? just do sell similar listings one after the other. it won't be that bad. and you'll make more money.

Of the 20 are a few of them much more expensive or rarer than the rest? If so what would prevent someone from screaming snad and only sending 17 pairs back?

Spending time creating listings with no guarantee of a sale is how eBay has worked since the start. In fact, some would argue that a thorough listing is what attracts viewers in the first place.
That being said ...
Have you taken the fundamental step of determining whether people on eBay are even buying these shoes?
